I remember being a little disappointed when I replaced my Hoosier QTP's with BFG drag radials. They didn't hook up near as well, I remember getting maybe 1-2 revolutions out of the Hoosiers, then the car would hook and go, while the BFG's would spin for awhile. They were a nice street tire though.
I've heard the ET street radials are a better tire than the BFG's, but the shock loading still isn't something they can handle effectively.

Can you run a McLeod "soft lock" clutch on a street /strip car to reduce the shock?? Cheers, Arnie

You can't "hit" a drag radial, like you can a slick. That usually results in instant tire spin. Now once you get a radial moving, you can really pour the power to it, they just don't like an initial shock

So what would be a good tire to run on a street car with 4speed that you sometimes take to the track...lets say that car is a 70 Charger RT and makes 640 TQ.
I am looking to buy a set of tires soon for the track.
