Been off work for over a year here. Not here to rub salt either.
Went to a funeral Friday for a 25 yr old guy that appeared to have had alot going for him.
A lesson to be learned every day.
I'm still trying to build my racecar.

Bummer man. Like others have said , it's only a credit rating. Keep doing the best you can , and if anyone expects more than that , I got two words for them....the first one begins with an "F" , and I am pretty sure that the powers that be won't let that one through. The second one is " You ". Here is a lesson I learned the hard way. Creditors will do nothing for you while you are current. Miss a few payments and all sorts of opportunities to address your plight become available. I underwent a lumpy period , with a layoff of 10 months and accompanying loss of income. A lot of it was my not seeing it coming and living like a rock star ( figuratively ........ no booze , groupies , dope or anything......just lived well ) , but once it became impossible to make the monthly nut I had to humble myself and make a couple decisions. And I took great pride in not missing a payment or ever being late etc. etc. They could have cared less. Until I stopped making payments.........now , the one creditor who lost my personal " who gets paid " lottery was my friend and couldn't be more helpful. I wish you the best , and remember this........all you can do is your best. That is plenty good enough.

when it happened to me last year, i quickly cut every possible extra expense. took full coverage off the cars. used a space heater in my bedroom only over the winter and it was cold last winter. ate romon noodles, chicken legs and PBJ sandwiches for a year. cut off cable and internet. i had a habit of paying extra on bills. stopped that. took every side job i could handle and made it thru the year. i didnt spend a dime on my cars but got to work on alot of others guys cars and found them spending their money on parts i recomend just a satisfying and exciting as my own car and made that extra cash i needed to make it.
I'm in import and export trucking, and we were hit very hard before most everyone seen the slow down. I can say that we are pretty busy again and customers that completely stopped shipping are now almost back to full swing so i would think things are comming around

may be a good idea, your credit will take a hit either way. like said if you miss a few payments they will be willing to work with you more than likely.

I can understand your situation. The Air Force is making us move and I will loose my entire income. Not the first time for sure but it still sucks every time it happens. The job market in Las Vegas is not real good either so not sure what I am going to do. On top of my income my wife will be getting paid $550 less a month as well to do to a COLA drop for Vegas vs here. So all told we will be $55K+ less per year. I am not complaining, it is just something else we have to put up with as a military family.
