Man you guys are loyal to your cars. To me they are just cars, they come and go. I am not attached to any of them. I prefer variety, after all it is the spice of life...

John, would be cool to see the transformation of your car over the years. One of my favorites on here, and cool that you are still racing it, and not just waxing it for car shows.

I can understand where your coming from Al. I plan on keeping my Aspen forever. I wouldn't say it is the car that I am loyal to though. I got my Aspen from my parents for my 15th birthday 9 years ago this March. It was a low option slant six rust free 2 door car that we found for $200. My Dad and I have spent MANY hours together working on our cars. Growing up, every Saturday night in the summer after work, we would go into the shop and tune his 1980 W-30 oldsmobile that he had built a 488ci. stroker for. We had a "veracom" (similar to the more modern G-Tech computers) that we would hang off the windshield, and then head outside of town and do some test runs, making the car faster over time (we didn't have a close by drag strip.) After playing with the car, we would head over to McDonalds, and share a 20 pack of chicken nugets! Dad still has that car, he bought it as a driver in 1987, the year I was born. It is a special car to me because of the time we have spent in it. Sadly, I think he may sell it, as we just don't use the car anymore.
When the Aspen came along, Dad had kept a 1970 340 that he had taken out of a 71 duster in circa 1978. He had planned to build it for his son's car some day. Talk about planning ahead. LOL. We have spent countless hours together building, and tuning the Aspen together. So much so, it isn't together all that often. haha, we are always trying new things. The car has had 3 different combo's in it in the time that I have had it, and we are slowly picking away at a R3 big inch for it. For now the W2 434ci. 318 based engine is keeping a smile on our faces when we take the car out.
An earlier picture of the car with the 340...

The Olds Dad has had since 1987...
And then there is Dad's 1962 Fury that he has had since 1971...
