will I don't know, I guess I assumed it was not However. It was not allowed to this extent in 1968. All I am trying to say is the class could use some competition and now would be good timing. What is the ss/a record and what holds it.
SS/AH 8.22 162.72 Charlie Westcott - Parma, MI
SS/AA 8.52 159.25 Randy Hopkins - Scandia, MN '10 Ford
SS/BA 8.84 150.40 David Thomas - West Chester, PA '69 Chevrolet

My boss at is one of the crew members for an '08 Cobra Jet. I know the guys running Cobra Jets are being told to sandbag, a couple people have ignored it and that's how the record in the 8.50's showed up. I hate to say it, but I expect in another two or three years that the CJ's will be faster than the SS/AH cars. There is just too much potential available with a blown combo above 5L displacement.

There are some guys that run as a nostalgia P/S group, HemiFred is one. Unfortunately they confine themselves mainly to the East coast or MidWest, so I don't have a chance to see 'em. My suspicion is NHRA will someday have a nostalgia P/S class just like the T/F & F/Cs they let run now...... As o the original topic, it'd be fun to see cars that look like the old ones, but perhaps now limit the engine size to ,saaaay, 632 or 650 cubes? That way these guys wouldn't have to run their cars so hard for good e.t.s or for those that do, we can see how much uurent technology has improved a real doorslammer.....

a 68 dart or cuda with a 426 hemi in it can ONLY run in ss/ah,, no other class like the other cars can do,, move up or down one from their natural class
westcott can only enter his car in ss/ah,,, period
This was done by the NHRA to keep from having to add weight to the hemi cars to allow other aa cars to be competitive.

Early Hemi B Body cars. Later Hemi B bodies, 67 & up, and Hemi E bodies are natural D cars.

OK, would you pay to see ford and GM 68 ss/a cars with the extended new modern rules compete with the SS/AH cars?
NO WAY - The other guys have been trying to pollute the class for years.. You can see Ford and GM cars all day in the other classes.
Non Mopar people head to the fences to watch these cars run as they are unique and respected - leave it alone.
I thought the AH designation would finally be a end to this..
