I recieved the March 2011 Mopar Muslce magazine several weeks ago, I don't subscribe to it but I get it because a freind of mine gave me a gift subscribition to it last year for Christmas. I read the article on how to set up a 8 3/4 rear end, I saw a error on using shims on the carrier bearings to adjust the ring gear backlash on page 36, picture # 10 All 8 3/4 rear ends, drop outs, pigs or whatever you want to call the center section use the stock bearing adjusters to set both the carrier bearing preload and the ring gear backlash I call the magazine to point the error out and none of the people at that rag cared that there was a error in thier magazine, so much for dedication to accuracy I sincerely hope this error does not mislead any new enthusiast Another incident of magazines articles not being accurate or their Editors or publishers taking the neccessary actions to correct or prevent future errors Not a good way to start the new year off rant OFF EDIT, I'm glad I'm not paying for that magazine. Any other comments on this or simialr articles in any magazines

I BOUGHT my issue , I was equally disappointed with the story; not much of the article took place in a "typical" at home garage. I also thought their comment about the "weakness" of a 741 housing unnecessary, they ain't all that weak. Their problem is lack of available ratios Just my

Mopar Muscle had a 'How To Set Up A 8.75 Rear' article some time in the mid or late '90s. The part of the article that covered pinion depth, the measurement was taken from the carrier bearing parting line. That's fine as long as the parting line happens to be the center of the bearing bore, which it only occasionally is. Errors are often found all forms of media, printed and broadcast. Maybe with the rush of deadlines creates the failures to catch errors. Latest one I've heard/read was a recent episode of the US version of 'Top Gear', one of the hosts stated the Porsche 914 was the replacement for the 356.

Yea The articles suck also. They do the same ole articles time after time, and when they do have a good subject about a certain build etc, they dont include any of the most important info of the builds. That magazine is is run and published, edited by None Mopar enthusiast. Its the sister mag to Car Craft, Hot Rod etc. Mopar Action has always been a better mag IMO.

I was not aware that it(Mopar Muscle) is a part of the same publishing group as Hot Rod and Car Craft. I'll call John Diannna, if I still can, and see if he can put some words in about accuracy in there articles from now on I really hate seeing misinformation and errors put into publications, epecially about my favorite hobby and brands of cars

One mistake I recently noticed was the 440 paxton supercharger article. It stated the motor was basically stock other then intake and headers and carb. But in the picture it obviously had edelbrock heads. Personally wasn't nearly enough info about the engine. no cam specs, no compression ratio specs, and no cylinder head specs. And yes! Sick and tired of the engine masters engines. Nothing against the competition.

Seriously, with all of the info available on the internet from buisnesses or forums why would you be looking for tech in a magazine? As for the car specs not being printed maybe the person didn't fill out everything on the tech sheet, or didn'y know them, or........
I buy a magazine to look at the pictures myself.

A mag was covering a race series I was in a few years back. They never asked me anything about my car. Then they posted a pic and a quick summary of my engine. Could not have been more wrong about it. Oh they did say I had a small block and nitrous. But, the rest was pure BS. Thanks to that editor and whoever the DA was that gave the wrong info. Guess they were unprepared as they never dreamed the Small Block would win. If they had been paying attention at the previous races that year they would have known.

because I don't take my computer in the bathroom with me, and that's where I do my best reading. magazine subscription's are going down farther and farther every year, and misinformation like this don't help matter's any.

I really liked the mag when Steve Dulcich was more involved with it. There was lots of home engin builds and garage tech between them pages . Mopar Action is a much better mag these days.
Mopar Action has always been a better magazine. When the MM is in the mailbox, I smile, but when I see the Mopar Action, I get all wiggly! Those engine challenge articles are like dating the same old ugly broad every month. I am tired of them and I just dont care about them. PLUS... I dont give a crap about all the late model stuff. Sure, I like the new cars, but I subscribe for info on the classics. I suppose that to remain in business in this market, they had to diversify. Too bad. Finally....although I like Mopar Action, I do wish that they would have returned to older cars for the project articles instead of the Dakota. With A bodies being the most affordable desireable Mopar, they could do their readers a huge favor by building up a Duster or Dart Sport.

MM is aweful. I am letting my subscription run out. I have been getting it for several years, but not anymore...waste of $$$.
I am amazed at the number of add's in the magazine,,,it takes up at least 50% of the pages in the mag....out of 100 pages,,,,about 1/2 was "readable" material...the rest is adds on almost EVERY page....
pretty sad....who is the editor for the magazine now ?,,not impressed,,,, I still get Mopar Action and MCG ....
