I had My 440 bored .030 over, then had new Keith
Black Pistons,Rods and Crank balanced,but didn't
send Harmonic Balancer along..Question is:now that
internal rotating parts are in balance, what effect will using this Balancer have on My Engine,
and 2nd question--My Torque Conv.only has a very thin weight spot welded on..Where Torque converters balanced as a separate piece where They
were manufactured???My Engine is a '67 with single
4 bbl..in GTX..

If a stock balancer it should of been sent with it. I wouldn't worry about converter.

Shop should have asked for it. If they balanced your assembly without even asking for the balancer, I'd be a little dissapointed with their lack of responsibility. Probobly not much you can do at this point, but I would at least call the shop and express your dissapointment. It's their job to know how to perform that task, they should have asked you for it.

Re: converter: As long as its the correct application for internally balanced engines, no worries. Bolt it on and go.

I'm not an engine builder but I have slept at a Holiday Inn Express

If this is an internal balance rotating assembly and the dampner is for internal balance then I do not see a problem, this is why the rotating assembly is balanced this way. The only reason to send your dampner is so the shop can confirm it's balance and correct it if necessary , they should NOT to putting it on the crank to do the balance job on an internal balance.

As far as your convertor goes if it has a small thin weight welded to the outer diameter then that is for neutral; balancing , the added weight for an external balance is welded on the face that faces the engine and they are fairly large in size.

The nice thing about an internal balance is not having to pull the engine and send it back should one want to change a dampner for whatever reason .

.....the dampner and converter will have no bearing on an internally balanced assy.....unless your building a 10,000 RPM Pro Stock engine

'67 440 would be internally balanced so the damper and converter shouldn't matter. You should be able to swap those items without changing the engine balance.

Engine shops usually ask for those parts just to confirm that they are neutral balanced. A lot of customers don't know what they are talking about so engine builders learn the hard way that they need to actually look at the parts rather than just ask the customer questions. But, the engine builder doesn't really need the parts if they are in fact neutral balanced.
