I'm pretty sure you are allowed one size bigger. I know you can in pure stock. Looks good mike, although more y2 than y4
Restoring a car to look "only" as good as the factory made it is like getting a boob job for your wife and having the doctor make them two different sizes to seem more natural

Another thing to consider is how fast your car is. Quick cars are one thing, but these cars weren't called Rapid Transit for nothing. The top end on a car with 3.54 rear end gears at 6500 rpm in 4th is pretty deep into the triple digits. These cars didn't come with 150 mph speedometers for no reason.
Speed ratings are something to consider if you ever want to stretch your Mopars legs as they were designed and intended to be stretched. I wouldn't run less than a V rated tire on mine, and you can always put the period correct tires on for shows. Just drive slow there.
Another option is that you can have a red stripe put on any modern tire.
1970 Plymouth 'Cuda #'s 440-6(block in storage)currently 493" 6 pack, Shaker, 5 speed Passon, 4.10's 1968 Plymouth Barracuda Convertible 408 Magnum EFI with 4 speed automatic overdrive, 3800 stall lock-up converter and 4.30's (closest thing to an automatic 5 speed going)

kind of an OT question but maybe not: could I run a F.A.S.T. or stock class race with a set of G70-14's or would I need to say with the F70-14's?
Yes you can , they allow up to a MAX size of a G70 if the car had 70 series tires and a G60 if the car had a 60 series tire .
I have firestone redlines on the Dart , no issues here and the road around here are bad .

Another thing to consider is: Put the tire pressure per the decal if you run Bias Ply it makes a big difference. When I had them on my Cuda and GTX 26 psi drive pretty decent but say 30 or 32 psi danced all over. Ron

... I'm old enough to have experienced the "strange, wiggly, soft, squirmy feel" of radials when they first started to become popular in the late '60's-early '70's. The radial tires always looked under inflated and all of the "road feel" went away which at the time was not considered a good thing A lot of drivers didn't like radials at first and if you asked guys what they thought you got almost a reverse of what is written here "you'll lose a lot of road feel and they squirm and...
Same memories here, including a very clear one the first time I drove my '72 'Cuda 340 after having just had radials installed. As soon as I got out of the tire dealer's parking lot and pulled out on Duke Street, it was already apparent those new tires were "different".
I have no problems driving old cars w/ bias-ply tires, but have known the trade-offs (as do you) from having lived with both over the years.

The redlines look better on your car than the RWL. I wouldn't be afraid to run the repro bias plys. The look outweighs the harshness. Dave

i think it depends how much your gonna drive the car. if its only a 300 mile a year car then put bias plys on it, if your gonna actually drive the car and put a good amount of miles on it then put a radial on it.
Averaging at least a 100 miles a weekend (sometimes 200+) from late March to late October so at the least 2500+ miles a year but that's if I only do local cruising, the Nat's, Chrysler Classics and a few stock class drag races are within 150 miles and I'd have no hesitation with driving there too.

Hope you like to really work the wheel. They will find and follow any grove, bump or crease in the road. If you drive the car alot I'd pass. I had them on a 70 383 4 speed charger, that car was a hand full. Didn't help that is was manual steering and manual brake.
The GTX has power steering and power disc brakes, may not be a big issue???

It's not a huge issue. If it's a "looks" thing than go with what you like. As stated they make radials that look like old bais plys. I would NEVER put a set of NOS...old...used whatever you call t hem bais plys on.

I had bias ply tires (stock) on 65 ford back in 1987 my first old car always liked old classic cars and that i know wasn't a mopar but at 16 years old it was what i could afford at the time . The car has the normal one finger overcompensating power steering that most 60 's cars had . Let me tell you when i first drove that car on the highway through the one lane concrete lined construction zones at 50 to 60 mph . Man it was defiantly interesting to say the least! I had to be concentrating so hard an-griping that wheel white knuckle style to keep that thing from grabbing a expansion rut and bouncing off the concrete that it was enough to make you want to fill you shorts if you know what i mean. I got a set of brand new keystone classic wheels and 235 70 r 15 raised white letter tires from k mart that were radial Generals i thinks was the brand hard to remember but all i can say was i was not scared to drive the car at any speed after the radials installed ! I also remember praying to god when driving down narrow city streets in Chicago hoping not to bounce like a pingpong ball of the parked cars that lined the streets .
