While I agree that a WELL ported set of Eddies should run better,I'd stick with a good set of factory heads(ported) over a hack or stock eddie. I see few eddie combo's at the track that impress.
there are 2 eddie headed cars that run real deep in the 9's one is the owner of cap tubular k-frame. its the combo!as far as kb piston's not sure,i had je flat tops on my pump gas stock susp 10 sec 3200lb eddie headed car.

I didn't say a "well prepped" set of eddies won't work,I have seen a few combos that ran well. I assumed the OP was thinking of installing a stock set and they have been less than impressive on a few cars I've known well. I have a set of eddies that went to Jeff @ modern and were worth a ton over the stock pr that did not show gains over a home ported J head. Your results may vary. Later

Jack,
I'm going to stick that Cam I got from you in my 414 (replacing the 341) and I'm having Ryan port my set of Eddies (should pick up about 35 cfm). I agree that ootb the eddies aren't much better than a bowl ported set of Stockers...but you do get the advantage of the lighter stem 2.02's and a closed chamber so it's a really good foundation for stepping up. At 12:1 I should be able to make 520 or so, even with the too small 1 5/8" headers.
I'm excited about getting Ryan to work on them, I've been looking for the opp to get hooked up with him on something for a while now.
I got my NIB Eddies and a Performer RPM intake for $1100. I sold the intake so I guess i have $950 in them.
I like 360 bracket motors, get them dialed in and you can pretty much keep the hood shut and concentrate on cutting lights and going rounds. I was originally going to build a 360 for the rocky but the original deal fell through on the short block.
