On the hunt for my dad's old cars. They include 5 Daytona's, 2 superbirds, and 2 500's. Very interested in finding the Red on Red Daytona, and Q5 Charger 500, and have found both cars.

Hope you don't mind me hi-jacking this thread again, but I thought you guys might be interested in a few pics of Daytona's over here in Blighty.
The first is Carlos' TX9 Hemi 4 speed with white stripe and interior that was displayed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed a couple of years ago.

Next is John's R4 440 car that he took with him when he emigrated from the UK to New Zealand last year, together with an EK2 Superbird. A pic of them both at a NZ car show was on another thread recently.

well I can't seem to find the website, i didn't have it written down, just typed it in on the computer while on the phone with a buddy. Anyways, I guess I was the one who was wrong. I never mentioned to them it was a clone or anything, and when i got back home I looked at the website again and it states its a clone. My buddy had just read me the add over the phone. guess i should have read it all myself before going. Instead I got excited and just left here. either way though i believe 40,000 for a clone is a bit high.
By the way, great looking pics of the wing cars over sea's. I was wondering if all of those cars are accounted for in either of the wing clubs?

AFX, Bob told me recently that he had owned the yellow Daytona for 26 years (I think). Not sure of its history prior to that. It's certainly been a race car since I first encountered it in about 1983, when it was running the original motor It was white then, and had a 70 front end on it, which it still had until a few years ago (pic attached). Bob is a veteran of the street classes, and won Original KOS at the 2003 Mopar EuroNats Check it our for some more of my pics. Danny, the other 3 Daytonas were imported in the last 3 years. John's red/white 440 (now in NZ) came from LA, and Pete's red/black 440 came from Pennsylvania. I believe Carlos' car is 1 of only 2 black/white/white Hemi 4 speeds made. I'd be surprised if they're not known to the Aero/Winged Warriors.

Well i've seen both of the HEMI black Daytona's with white stripes. However I don't recall both having white interior. One had black unless there are 3 HEMI black daytona's that are 4 speeds.

You're welcome Reed I think Bob has done all of the work to convert his Daytona to a drag car, starting in the late 70's. It is still street legal, though I don't think he drives it to work At it's best in the 80's, it used to run in the low 11's without NOS. The motor's a little tired now (and according to Bob, so is he!). He brings it to the Mopar EuroNats each year, and ran 11.95 last year. Next time I see him, I'll get some more details for you. In the meantime, here's a pic of the XX29 rear window. Some folks have speculated that the car is a 500 with a wing, but if Bob says it's a Daytona, that's good enough for me. Yes, the black Daytona is in the Carlos Monteverde collection. I don't like to use folks' surnames without their permission, but I guess you guys all know about his cars.

So how did Jims newest Daytona look? I talked to Jim and had him out to dinner a few days after he just bought the Green Daytona. While eating he said "I have a story for you". Went on to describe how he heard about the car, and then going to see it. Then he said he would see me with the car at the Vegas show, but I informed him that I wouldn't be able to make that show. So I suppose I'll see the car when I go visit him this summer. Very nice family, him and his wife. Very friendly people. Great to hear of them finding another great daytona. I just wish i was 1/3rd as lucky as they are. 1 would be fine with me for now.

So how did Jims newest Daytona look?
Well, I thought Jim's new Daytona looked pretty darn good but it did turn out to be a source of some controversy. It was displayed in Mel Major's Mopar Survivors display which requires the cars to be mostly original paint. Jim told me the car was original paint but upon inspecting it, it quickly became obvious that the Daytona was wearing it's original tail stripe but had been repainted. At least the rear quarters had been repainted as there was a paint line butted up against the tail stripe. The doors and front clip may have been original paint as there were a lot of paint touchups but even tney may have been repainted. There was a pretty good little bang on the passenger's quarter panel too. The interior was pretty much immaculate, the engine compartment needed a little tidying up but was ALL original. The car came with the cool mag-style full wheel covers which were in the trunk. The car was displayed with the black steel wheels exposed. It had Firestone Wide Ovals up front and some snow tires out back. All in all, it was most definitely one amazing Daytona.
