I am thinking its time to send some magnum heads out to get done. Get the ball rolling on a SS engine for my dak. Curious who you guys go to. I've got Don Little local then there is Steve Wann and Shane Studley in Cali.

I don't know Wes King but I do know and have used Greg Luneack(SP?) at tri City Competion in the Carlsbad area of SO CA, he does a lot of NHRA stocker and SS motors as well as a few Comp Eliminator motors

I would call Angie at Mopar Engines West, although Wes did some magic on a pair of Eddy's for me years back. The work that Angie did on the Engine Challenge motor (which I now own) is second to none.

IMO hard to argue with the Wann's success at this stuff.

Also IMO it depends on your goals. Are you looking to be able to qualify well or are you wanting record setting stuff. That will make a big price difference.

There is also RWR, and as mentioned Pettis. Or you can buy Studley's old record setting Dakota it is for sale.

You buildiing it I assume as a traditional SS car not a GT?

Al I'm 21 and barely affording what I've got! Shanes truck is lightyears out of my price range! Haha

As far as the truck I'm thinking GT/TB and I just want to go at least a little under the index. Not very many guys in the class on this coast. I just want to get in SS bad!

After talking to a friend I'm thinking maybe some cast iron W2s and a 340. Should put me in GT/TC. I like the idea of no tear downs.

with that combination, no port rules, valve size rules,, or anything,, not saying that he couldnt get around all that,, id try brian, ou812 on here.. he seems to be a small block guy but a cylinder head guy overall,,, he might take a special interest and treat you good on the labor

No tear downs? No port or valve size rules? GT/Truck is still a legal lb/factored hp SS engine class, isn't it? Did I miss something? Just asking.

i just looked,,, gt/tc would just use a typical super stock engine,, i thought it was a ss/cs or something like that where there were no cyl head rules other than iron... when he said he was going to use a w-2 thats what i thought that way,, sorry... in gt/tc you cant use a w-2 head

gt/tc would be subject to teardown and all normal super stock rules

10.5 lb/cubic inch, 3000# minimum, cast iron heads only. 286 cu.in. at minimum weight. A 340 would have to weigh 3570 with driver less 250 with an automatic. 10.50 index. No one currently holds the record. Sounds like fun.

Same combination in a car is a 10.30 index and a Mopar from the mid-west holds the record with a 9.25.

I like the idea of using the W2 head. Pretty good head to start with. could make a pretty light rotating assembly. would be a high revving lil engine.

I believe that is what Curtis Boggs runs in his Daytona in SS/CS or BS. Does sound like fun, not that many trucks out there in SS, I have seen mainly GT trucks. I forgot about Brian at IMM. I know I plan to take him some stuff later next year once life is a bit more settled.
