Only people from here understand the struggle

Dallas against Fort Worth and the area clubs

http://www.tmccc.org/

They race against each other here

And they really don't like each other either

BigDad,
I always find the TMCCC races alot of fun.

I wouldn't say the clubs don't like each other. Yes there are some club rivalies as it should be, but it's generally friendly and everyone has a good time and there are classes so every one has a chance to race. I think the series brings people out who, like me, to the track who normally don't have or can afford a serious race car but can compete and have fun along with fast race cars.

I think the problem is there aren't enough serious mopar racers around to build a sufficient core to draw others from other states. Cowtown and Dallas Mopars tried this a couple year ago but I don't think it was successful. Maybe it was bad timing or weather I don't know.

I think what you need is a long term commitment from the sponsers to grow the race over a few years to get the word out and start to draw races from farther out than Oklahoma and Lousiana.

But I think it would be a great idea if you can find enough funding.

We have a few guys that would make it from the San Antonio area.

If you wanted to move it down to San Antonio Raceway we have new track management that has been doing a really good job. I spoke to him at bracket finals and he is open to a mopar only race.

It has been tried several times here in north TX and failed miserably.
There are not enough Mopar racers around this area to support it. There are 3-4 bracket racers left in the area, a bunch of muscle car series racers, but they will never pay more than $25 entry fee.
The Lonestar Nationals in Houston was OK, but it still lacked any real attendance.
You will need some major sponsors, guaranteed payouts, maybe a big time show like some Pro Stock cars, Wheel standers etc. to get spectators in.
The track you hold it at will also be key. Racers around this area won't attend certain tracks for whatever reason.

Good luck getting this started. If I still have a car or can get one to drive I will be there.

As our financial conditions continue to improve (personally speaking) I'd love to find an excuse to load up the car and haul south for some kind of winter get-away race at least once in my life. Now, how much of a refuge from winter north Texas actually is I don't know. The crap shoot of the deal is getting across Wyoming and Colorado mid-winter. The winter storms they get make our worst look like summer squalls.

you would think ma mopar would be interested in sponsoring a big mopar only event down south the southern nationals has grown a bunch. problem with heads up is there is not very many mopar heads up cars. they have been doing a hand drop heads up thing here the last few years.

Does Mopar corporate actually sponsor the Southern Nationals. Or is it a local dealership?

I can't find a link to the 2010 Southern Nationals webpage.
