To make sure we are on the same page, there are really 2? kinds of CF, the real high tech CF high temp oven baked vacum bag F1 stuff, and the typical resin/epoxy CF cloth reinforced matrix. I think you are talking cost wise about the latter. It is not to tough to do, and after a visit to AAR Fiberglass in Melborne, Fla, the owner years ago said he would do CF on any of his existing molds at an upcharge. However, there is not a great deal of weight savings, only more cost, increased flash factor, tougher to repair, with some increase in stiffness, allowing some/slight reduction in thickness. The F1 stuff is what you want, but can't get,
Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

the guy iam talking about is vacume formed kiln baked... i took a 6" piece about 30" long and jumped up and down on it... it was stiffer than a 2x6 and i weigh 221 lbs. its a honeycomb center matrix section..the stuff he makes.. plus they squeegee out the extra resins.. he said..the fabric sometimes is hard to get..but the resin is the expensive part..(for the real stuff) pretty awsome stuff..he does cockpit interiors and air spoilers for BMW,MAZDA,and some GM stuff. road race cars..bread and butter. cheapst

YA gotta have a decent "wallet" to do what you do !!
I would suggest that you empty the FE and the doors of ANYthing not fiberglass and then see what you have.
BTW ...what does the car weigh now?

i wouldnt say i am up on it... but a hood for my car ..with real c/f process is a grand..he quoted/threw out when i asked him. thats why i dont have one... but i can tell you that a complete bm3 3 series dash..(it wraps down past the radio and almost to the shifter..fwiw.. feels like it is helium ballons...almost like it could float away.. its not a structual part..so its as thin as the cardboard on a cereal box..and sharp as a razor. and the cool part is ..the color after being molded has the factory texture and looks remarkably stock once in the car..(blackish grey that is...)fwiw. a bumper would be less...i am sure... this economy hasnt afforded me the ability to source c/f for my car. but maybe some day.? i will also say..with hoods..you have to watch if you have a coil or coil wire or even sparkplug wires touch it ..it can cause grounding issues.. and he has shown me holes (looks like bullet holes) from where chunks of tire rubber hit a defuser at speed..its remarkebly stong..but not bullet proof..the honey comb in that application...single layer honeycomb like a defuser uses..is rigid in only a few axis.. for true stuctural parts.. he criss/crosses the pattern with double or multiple layers if and when mulitple stress axis are needed..like compression or sheer forces..fwiw. fwiw... cheapst

Me KIDDING ....NOT on this topic ... And if your really READ what I had to say ....I did not say their stuff was "junk" .. just heavy. I say again .. they probably make the HEAVIEST race-car-parts on the planet !! And the WEIGHT SAVINGS ? ... LOOK at what the OP will spend and go through on hopeful weight reduction.

Took it to many shops and they all said to fix it, it would take lots of cutting and new glass work. Pass. side fits the fender cut out perfact. AAR said its from pulling it out of the mold, nothing can be done.
