Looking around Clarksburg, Bridgeport, Fairmont, Morgantown, Parkersburg, or just across the border in Southern Pa. My plan is to probably rent an apartment for a few months to see which are I like the best, unless I find a house and shop on a few acres that I like really quick, then I'll learn to like that place, most of my work right now anyway is Northwest of Clarksburg.

Glenn,

The housing market in the Clarksburg, Fairmont area is stronger than most areas of the state due to the FBI Center and hi-tech jobs. Morgantown has WVU and the University Hospital. Morgantown/Monongalia County has the lowest unemployment rate (5.7%) in the state. Rentals in college towns like WVU tend to get crazy unless you are on the outskirts of the town.

Parkersburg's housing market appears to be slower than the Northcentral part of the state. I haven't compared the rental market in Parkersburg to Northcentral WV but I would assume it is a little cheaper.

Parkersburg area gets you to 5 or 6 tracks in the Ohio area and Pittsburgh Raceway Park is within 4 hours or less. National Trail is around 2 hours or less from Parkersburg. Norwalk would be 3.5 hours. Tracks in Cincinnatti would be 3.5 to 4 hours. Hauling to tracks in Ohio from the Parkersburg area would have less hills also. There is an 1/8 mile track in between Point Pleasant and Winfield which would be about an 1 to 1.5 hours from Parkersburg.

Clarksburg, Fairmont, Morgantown area has no local tracks and Pittsburgh Raceway Park would be the closest at about 1.5 to 2 hours away. There are some tracks in Maryland but hauling a race car over the mountains makes it a little more expensive.

I may be telling you some things you already know depending upon how familiar you are with area. I hope the info helps out in making your decision. I know racers look at things differently than your average bear. No pun intended BG!

Thanks Greg, all good info, been looking a lot on the net, lots of houses for sale there, compared to Wyoming anyway, the plan right now is to find an apartment in Clarksburg, Bridgeport, or Fairmont, then check out the whole area, ideal situation would be a few acres with a house in a rural area close to any of the towns I mentioned,a shop of some type would be a bonus if i could find one with that combo, think I have my house here sold, but it will depend on the interested persons financeing how long that might take. The car in your post looks very interesting,,,,,definitly like the color,,,,,what are you building?
