It was Radar at R&J performance 319 988 3595 [Cedar Falls IA.] who designed and built the B-1 heads. He charges 1200.00 dollars to CNC port the heads. So If you want to go to the man who knows.......

When did Radar get a CNC machine? Last I knew, everything was done by hand yet...For the guys that do not know Radar...Roger Lechtenberg...He is quite versed in cylinder head work...Just ask John Force or Kenny Bernstein...He used to do heads for those guys...At this time he is heavily involved with the S&S Pro Stock bikes...

The Koffels hired him to design the B1s? This is going back too far for me(to remember), but I would be interested to know who did it...since it has become a timeless design, imo.

i did heads for force and bernstein too,,, hand ported,, in 1990.... doesnt make me a great head porter...

ill remove myself from the list of guys mentioned on this post to say this so im not biased.. by FAR radar is the best, my workmanship is the same as his,,, just about as good as it gets

there are guys that port heads and guys who are head porters,,, he is a head porter

best machine doesnt port heads,, they send them out

How far do you want to go back? Since I'm an old fart, I can tell you what I know! Roger Lecthenberg (Radar) worked for and was taught by Gary Ostrich at Ostrich Motors in Nevada IA. Who was Gary Ostrich, you asked? If you raced a Hemi in Nascar Racing or Drag Raced it probably came from Ostrich Motors in the 60's or 70's. They were absolutely the best at welding iron blocks and heads. Roger left and started R & J Performance with a guy named Pete (can't remember his last name). I heard they were designing a new aluminum head about 1990 and I bought one of the first sets. It was explained to me that it was basically adapting small block Chevy heads to a big block Mopar. What the B1 TS heads are adapting a big block Chevy to a Mopar. Anyway, Roger designed the B1 heads for some investors. (What I was told) He also carved the B1 intake manifold (single 4B) out of a solid block of wood. He now does the heads for Pro Stock Harleys. Also, I might add he does not have a CNC machine, but farms them out and then hand finishes them.
