A friend of mine had a sand rail with a wankel in it...extremely fast. LOUD too! Do it man. Engine swapping is just good old fashioned hot rodding. The fate of your eternal soul does not depend on a spotless "mopar card."

The only rotary car ive ever ridden in was a non turbo 12a in an rx7 (stick car) Me and a buddy went to arizona to pick it up all he wanted was the motor for his bug...we beat the crap out of it the whole way back (dirt roads, jumping it, drifting, speeding, 7300?rpm shifts) It ran like a champ the whole way and it still does. Do what you please, afterall its your car

Like them or not you have to admit they can go fast, there's a guy local who "stacked" the rotors on one making a 2 rotor motor into a 3. They sound like a two stroke and have really low fuel consumption. He also works on Toyota Supra turbo engines, the money these guys have in the motors is unbelievable They come from far and wide to have him modify / build the engines. For his own car he is building a turbo'd 5.0, that says something to me .

There is a guy here that puts them in his rock crawler trucks. Makes a ton of noise and doesn't hardly move with the super low gearing. Seems to work well though, keeps the buggy light and compact.

Technically interesting, appealing simplicity of concept. But not much torque, and their Achilles' heel is the rotor seals. Had a '79 RX7 and honestly the gearbox was the best part of the car. The car wasn't anything near fast, but it could sure kill mosquitos. Drank gas like a big-block. Didn't care that much for the sound. There was one that used to show up at Sears Point with a reputation for running in the 9s IIRC, but it broke every time I saw it. My opinion (which with $2.00 will buy a good cup of coffee), is that they're better suited to road-racing than anything else.

First time I saw one was maybe 10 years ago; actually I heard it first, and asked myself ...."what the h**l is THAT noise....???" Sounded like a mutant chain saw on steroids. It was a little white Datsun/Mazda (I don't know ricers) with Porto Rico license plates. It made one pass; pulled the wheels about a foot off the ground, bogged, and then took off like they lited a solid fuel rocket booster. They got thrown out cuz they were wwaaayyy too fast for how the car was built at the time.
Being a no, low torque engine, Dart/Duster body might be a little too much............Do a Colt instead, it would be fun I'm sure.
