Here's a pic I came across from the 1982 Mopar Nats at the Chelsea Proving Grounds. That's me and the red, white and blue Bird with a Michigan State Trooper who had a brand new 1982 Diplomat cruiser on display at the event.

I didn't think that i'd ever see the day when any Superbird or Daytona was refered to as Plain jane. Then again i suppose that there are quite a few of them that could be labeled as that. Like the EV2 Daytona's i mean considering it is the most popular color that i know of. some are bound to be twins.

On the hunt for my dad's old cars. They include 5 Daytona's, 2 superbirds, and 2 500's. Very interested in finding the Red on Red Daytona, and Q5 Charger 500, and have found both cars.

Danny, in comparison to the way the ol' white Bird looks today, it was very plain-jane back then! Here's a pic from a couple years back...

hmmmm still looks like a plain ol superbird to me. only with some pinstripes. JK Hey a superbird is a superbird, none of them are plain hence the name SUPERbird, not PLAINBIRD

This picture was taken in December of 1978 near Beaumont, Texas. The Superbird was a 440 4BBL car... I have no idea where it is now.

This is the 440 Daytona owned by Del F. from the Fort Worth area, car has since been sold...

This picture was taken at a MoPar meet in Bastrop, Texas in the mid 1980s:

This picture was taken on a return trip from the Waco Mini Nationals in the late 1980s. Notice that the car had been repainted and the vinyl top removed. In this picture he has just passed me and is waving:

A friend with a 440 Six Pack Challenger R/T drops back to have a close look at the Daytona cruising down I-35...

This is a 440 6BBL Superbird owned by a friend from Austin, Texas. For many years it was painted black, but Ken restored it to the data plate coded B-5 blue. These pictures were taken in the late 1990s at a MoPar meet in San Antonio.

Next to Ken's Superbird is a 1970 Daytona Clone from the Dallas area. Both of these cars are exceptionally nice!

Awesome pics Allen! The vinyl top looks killer on the orange Daytona. The G-Mango '70 Charger I was going to clone into a '70 Daytona was a white top car and I was really looking forward to doing that project. Of course, the Aussie Daytona came up and the '70 Charger had to be sold. Here's a rendering Peelerboy did of what it was going to look like.

Well, that's a first. I've never seen a wing car with a Torino Laser Stripe until now. Things sure were different then. No concerns for originality or what people would think. That guy would get shot at a show today.

I've seen Ken's Bird up close and it is immaculate. Ken's a great guy too. I think it was restored by Jeff's Ressurections in Austin (now Taylor).

BTW Jeff's bird had a spot in the Movie Dazed and Confused!!!!

Ken did the major disassembly and reassembly work himself. I shot some video while he was taking the car apart, the body was almost flawless! I don't remember who repainted the body for him, but it was in the Austin area. Ken's Superbird was in the movie "Dazed and Confused" while it was still Black in color.

Here is a picture of Ken's Superbird in the early 1980s when it was Black:

John - I remember that you were planning to do the 1970 Daytona clone project. I thought it was delayed by the Aussie Daytona purchase, I didn't know that you sold the car. I plan to build a clone "race" Daytona in the distant future.

Glad you liked the pictures, more are coming in future as I find them and have the time to scan them in.

Allen, yeah I had to sell the '70 Charger in order to buy the Aussie Daytona. I hated to do it but it was well worth it!

Keep the cool pics coming!
