This superbird RM23UOA174597 Was one I sold in early 80 and have lost contact with.It was a former wing car club owner owned car of R Garcia Houston TX.Its a 440 4 speed dana car with tach and console.Back when I got it had been repainted no decals were on the 1/4s fender scoops and grille screen and frame were missing.I replaced all missing items. It had 75K miles on it a timing chain had went out on it and was sitting. I had the car running drove it from TX to NJ.Sold and saw it once at a car show and never again

More vintage pictures. This is a 70 white charger clone with real daytona parts.was sent to me from Dave here on moparts. These 2 cars are in the same area and town I believe .The next picture is XX29J9B414638 a actual red hemi daytona that looks like a 69 charger 500.Lacking all the wingcar parts like nose and wing the appearing red car has braces and all. These 2 guys need to get together and work out a parts exchange.Cause the 70 charger clone has everything the appearing 69 500 which is a hemi daytona needs

Lots more great pics Dave!

Iceman, it's a hoot for me to be able to talk to someone who knew of the yellow Bird back in the day too. Like you pointed out, it was in a very rural area and not too many people knew about it. I took the author of a book on winged cars up there in 1994 and he took some way cool pics of what thigs looked like back then. I'll have to find the book and scan in the pics as they show the old open faced barn a lot better. I definitely have to make it up there this summer to see the old guy's wife and son. His son is just like him and you can just sit and yack with him for hours on end. You're absolutely right on the farm being on the west side of a main road. Does Seymour Road ring a bell? The fact that you've actually sat in the car is unreal. Moparts just made this big ol' world a little bit smaller. I don't know how often you make it out this way but you'll definitely have to come by and see the old yellow bird and sit in that black cockpit again. It's been a long time. Here's a pic as we were loading it up to bring it home. This is May 30, 2001. By the way, this picture is not from where the car sat all them years. They moved the car to their son's barn in Owosso, Michigan the last few months they had the car to finally get it completely out of the elements and that's where I picked it up from.

Here's another shot. All loaded up and ready to go to it's new home. It doesn't look too bad in these pictures as the old guy had a quickie body and paint job done on the car a couple years before I got it. The work left a lot desired and would have made for a good lesson in why not to buy cars from pictures alone. Good thing I knew what was underneath and how much work was going to be needed!

And finally, here's one of the most recent pictures as the car was a few months back. I need to get Ken to send me some more recent pictures!

Scat_Pack, the car is in Conway, Arkansas which is northwest of Little Rock. I'll be down there visiting it next week sometime and it would be way cool if you could make it down and meet up with us and see the car!

John, thanks! I won't be bringing it to Carlisle but I will have it at the Columbus, Tri-State, Michigan and Norwalk Chrysler Classics and maybe the Mopar Nationals.

Hey I am there! Let me know when and where to meet you, I dont know how you go down but if you go down 65 I could meet you like around the state line and follow you or we can meet in conway. Either way I would love to see the car and meet up with you.

I'm not sure if the stop in Conway is gonna be at the beginning of the trip or on the backside so we'll have to stay in touch and all that. Maybe you could PM me your phone number and we can contact you from the road?

OneBad, this is probably a stupid question, but how long has the car you are talking about been in Conway? I only ask because I heard a rumor of one sitting out there in a field. This must have been 8-10 years ago that it started floating around. I almost made a trip out there from Dallas just to try to confirm it. Man, I wish that I could post some old pics on here that I got from a restorer, but they are 7000 miles away and I don't have a scanner. He had run across various birds in TX and OK back in the mid-eighties and snapped some pics. When was the last time you saw a Tor-Red Bird sitting on an open lot right next to an FM road in the sticks?

69HemiGTX, the only reason my yellow Bird is down in Conway is because it is being restored there by Moparts member Hemi_Tyme who specializes in AWESOME wing car restos. The car sat in an open-faced barn here in Michigan for 27 years before I got it. I'm sure Ken (Hemi_Tyme) will see this post later and maybe he can shed some light on the car you're referring to.

That's a bummer about being so far away from your old pictures and not having a scanner. There is a ton of history in this thread and I'm sure the pics you mentioned from back in the day would be awesome.

I remember real well the days of seeing Superbirds just sitting out by the road in remote locations but in all my years, I can honestly say I've only seen a handful and really wish I had snapped more pictures...

Here's a better pic of my Dad's 'Bird. He bought it from I believe a Mark Bauer from Eau Claire, Wisconsin back around '85. Its' nosecone and fender fillers are welded to the fenders . We belive this was done by the original owner. Does any one remember it. Thanks, Lon
