good point. my truck is manual locks, windows, mirrors, etc. so I'm sure that saves me some more weight as well

Also, his truck is in full street trim. no weight reduction, full factory interior, full factory sheet metal, plus he's got AC, Power steering, a decent stereo system...
Stereo system is coming out this weekend, I found a buyer for all that stuff! I rather have a backseat now.

What is your max RPM now? And where does the good pull end - RPM?
Max RPM I'm not sure of, probably around 6.5K. I spun it past 6k with no problem. Factory tach only goes to 6k so I would peg it but it kept pulling. It actually pulls pretty solid all the way through, I wish I didn't take it out of the truck already and go check for you.

I've been running my 408 set up for the first year now and made a few adjustments:
first, I don't think reaching 7000 rpm will be a problem, I took the engine there once and did not seem to hate it...but why go there ??
I ditched the injection to go with an 800 cfm holley and turns great! I started the season with a 280/292 hyd roller (230/238 @ .050) and turned very good, very smooth idle very street friendly. 180 psi cranking pressure, 8sec flat on the 1/8 mile before having oil pressure problems...
After almost 2 months I reinstalled the engine with a solid 250/250 @ .050 (290/290) from comp cams 165 psi cranking pressure, best 7.6 1/8 mile and 11.96 1/4 mile with very bad '60 (1.71) but still a lot more tuning to do on the car so I figure 11.50 is in the reach easy..
Then , my thoughts on a solid roller.I'm really not afrain to go there, and pretty sure I can pull a lot of HP froom that. So if you want to go there, I'm with you all the way!
BTW, did I mentioned I'm running the RHS iron heads with the small 1.92 valves ? changing to the big 2.02 valves this winter will give me 50 cfm in ported form, Do you think the high 10's are in reach? I think so too......
My choice would be something like a 250/256 @ .050 solid roller with a LS of 108 for a sweet spot of 3000-7000 (something in the ballpark)

why are you so hellbent on 7000 rpms????? use your torque, you need power down low due to your weight!!!! *add* or you'll need a converter so loose you'll lose streetability, do you mean 10's w/ nitrous???
