Hi all As my first posting as a member of this site I'm curious if the car I purchased is rare and is it a car worth doing to a high degree of a complete restoration. The Vin Tag read as follows: V6X Y05 26 EN1 J45 M21 N41 N42 N85 R22 V1G A62 C16 C55 G33 H51 EB3 H6B5 000 C11 012579 E63 D32 JS23 NOB XXXXXX Its Engine is not matching # but the Transmission and rear end are original to the car. Car is solid with most metal work done by previous owner. Any info as to the rarity of this car and its options would be greatly appreciated. Sorry Guys I'll some up the key points. 1970 RT 383 4V, 727 auto with 3:23 8 3/4 rear. B3 Blue w/black side stripe Blue interior Gator Grain Top Console car AM 8-track 3 dash speaker setup A/C

Welcome to Moparts! What are your plans for the car? Resell? Keep? It has some neat options. However, other than the Gator Grain being sort of rare, I don't see anything super rare about the car. That being said, there are others on the board more knowledgeable on e-bodies than I and hopefully they will chime in. Joe

Here is some info for the tag
y05=built to us specs, australia 26=26" radiator J45=hood pins w/ lanyards n41=duel exhaust n42=exhaust tips r22= am radio with 8 track a62= ralley dash c16=center console with bucket seats c55= nonreclining bucket seats, australia h51= single air conditioning c11=(spd) December 11 012570= order #
I think any real R/T car is worth doing a solid resto on. Trust me I am spending tons of money on a clone.
Got any more pics? Good Luck

Our cars probably sat right beside each other on the hauler and in the lot! My car is from N.C. too. Is your RT resto completed? What a twist!

That is an NOS top, got it on ebay about 6 or 7 years ago and it's still stored waiting to go onto the car. The auction had a starting bid of $1,000. I entered a max of about $1,100 with a few seconds left in the auction. I ended up being the only bidder and got if for $1,000. I believe Legendary is reproducing the material these days.

It will be a super pretty car when it's done but it'll cost you $25k or more to do it right even if you do a lot if it yourself...unless you do your own paint and body but I would do it if I had it. Nice car!
Yep I know, I know and then add 30%. Why? because I'm a Canadian??? Some more time spent on here and it'll be done next week. Very positve folks on this forum. I love it....

"Built to US specs" (left hand drive) but "for Australia" (right hand drive)? Sounds like a pretty car, and a combination of colors and Gator VT that isn't very common and arguably pretty rare.
Pretty sure the y05 is actually a Sales Bank car code. Barry???
