There are 9 zip files that are just under 16mb. I also saved several of the other things wingcars posted in the past, like the letter to the new owners, and the check lists and such.

Hey OneBadSuperbird...
Would the barn you recently pulled the yellow car out of be located in the Linden, Michigan area? I remember a low-mileage, excellent condition yellow car just like this parked in a friend's grandparents' barn collecting dust in the mid 70s.

Iceman, I wasn't real sure where Linden was so I just did a Mapquest search and it put me on a page where I could see the exact square mile where the yellow Bird came from! I knew the town it was from as Gaines, Michigan though so it must have been kind of on the border of Gaines and Linden.
The old folks that had the yellow Bird owned it since 1974 and I guess that maybe in the mid '70's, it may have been in nice condition. The first time I saw the car though in 1982, it had already gotten pretty rough. Here's a pic from that very first day. I finally got the car about nineteen years after taking this picture.
I plan on taking the yellow Bird back up there when it's done as the family really wanted to see the car all restored. The old man passed away last year though and I really wanted for him to go for a ride in the car. He was one of the coolest people I had ever met and the world is a sadder place without him and the stories he could tell about life here in Michigan in days gone by. Some of my most treasured memories in life are of hanging around on that farm and listening to that cool old guy talk and show me neat old relics from the past.

The stories of what the original wingcar owner call tell you is that the truth is stranger than fiction. My daytonas original owner lives near by and is old mopar guy from day one starting from his first owned town and country plymouth to a 60 300 G chrysler. And told me some interesting happennings with the daytona. One was caught speeding in it .And had to follow the cop to the judges house to pay the fine .Which he got sentenced to cutting the guys grass.Another was drove it Trenton NJ speedway to see the 70 wingcar races. And parking attendant asks if he was there to race it

You're taking me way back OneBadSuperbird! You've got the car I was remember. I didn't say Gaines before, because it isn't an incorporated town -- just a bunch of farms down the road from Argentine (outside of Linden where I grew up). In the past 30 years, I've thought of this car each and every time the conversation turned to winged cars. Always wondered if it was still there or if I'd read about it on some web site. Glad to hear it's in good hands. Next time I come home to visit Mom and Dad, I'll try to look you up!

Iceman, your knowledge of the area is absolutely amazing! Only someone that grew up around there would know that stuff! I actually wish I knew some of the history of the yellow Bird before 1974 when the folks I got it from acquired it.
The next time you're in the area, you'll definitely have to stop by and check the old yellow Bird out. My friend Ken (Hemi_Tyme here on Moparts) is doing an incredible resto on the car. I take it you were pretty young back when you used to see the car. Come on by and you can even take the car out for a spin.
It's weird that you always wondered if it was still there. Over the twenty years I knew about the car, from time to time, I would wonder if it was still there too. Then I'd go visit with them and walk out to their barn and look the old gal over. It got rougher and rougher over time and one year when I went there, some kids had stolen the wing. The old guy got another one somehow. I never dreamed the phone call would ever come offering me the car but on May 22, 2001, on the day my dad passed away, it finally did. It's a very special car and you are only the second person I have ran across that knew of the car. The other was someone from Argentine that I ran into at the Woodward Avenue Dream Cruise who used to ride a school bus past it every day. Trust me when I consider myself blessed to finally have the car. It's definitely a twenty year dream come true.
