I'd say that if too many more post get put in this thread they are going to run out of space on the website. I would say there is easily 150+ vintage pictures on this thread alone. Its great getting to see the older pics everyone else has, instead of just going through the trunk of negatives and pics i have.
On the hunt for my dad's old cars. They include 5 Daytona's, 2 superbirds, and 2 500's. Very interested in finding the Red on Red Daytona, and Q5 Charger 500, and have found both cars.

Next one. This is a Hemi Bird. Mileage at the time was in the 9k range. If memory serves me correctly Al said he was the president of the "Hemi Owners Association" (may not have that org. stated correctly) at some time in late 70's.

And finally an orange bird that was, I believe, a 6-pak, 4 spd car. If I had not been a broke college student at the time I could have bought this one (4 bbl on it but 6-pak set up in the trunk), and a '72 Canadian built 440, 4 spd, dana 60 Charger for $3,500, from this friend of Giegers that owned both. Gieger's story about the white bird was something like this: Used student loan to by the car with 3k-ish miles on it. Claimed it was one of 3 birds that Ma gave to Petty, but since Petty never crashed the 1st, the other two survived unmodified. There was his (the one pictured) and one in Florida. At least thats the story to the best of my recollection. Never was quite convinced of the validity of the story. The last time I spoke with him was about 1981 at his house east of Las Cruces. At the time he had approximately 30 mopars, which included several Hemi's, six-pac's, convert. E-bodies, at least three wing cars, etc. I was sad to see all setting outside. Woulkd love to hear if anybody knows the whereabouts of all the mopar muscle he has as well as some of the other stuff. That last time I saw him he had also aquired a Mercury Cyclone and a Ford Talladega. I one of the pics I posted that is a 428SCJ Torino complete with shaker hood just behind the bird.

Thanks for the offer; would love to see it again when you're finished. This is really a hoot to be talking about one of my most vivid high school memories. Well... not as vivid as the one about "graduating" in the back of a hatchback Vega, but that's another story!
Not too many people knew about that car. It was in a pretty rural area back then. I must have first saw it right after they acquired it. I graduated from Linden in 1975. We used to party all through high school in the various farmers' fields thereabouts. The details are fuzzy, but if I recall correctly, I think a couple of brothers I sometimes cruised with (Art and either Duane or Rob Lilly) were the ones who took me over there to see it several times. Might have been their grandparents?
The picture you posted was like deja vu for me. Even before you confirmed it, I just knew it was the car. For 30 years, while I traveled the globe for Uncle Sam and fought in several wars, I've dreamed about that yellow bird in the open-front pole barn to the rear of the house and driveway (pretty sure it was on the west side of a north-south running main road).
Wish I could help you, but I don't recall any details or what reason we were given for it just sitting there. I just remember it being in very good condition with low miles. Have to admit that I've even sat in that black cockpit a time or two!
Until total honesty is on the table, we're not even talking about reality...

Great stuff and stories and vintage pictures keepem coming .If we have the band with room heres a few more. The first 2 daytonas are cars I looked at to buy.The other one is a 70 charger with a 69 500 backglass that was assembled Mids 70s early 80s By Ted for a daily driver for him and his wife. And had the real daytona parked. The real car served as a mold donor and template. And I later traded him a beat superbird with molded in nose for it
