Very sorry to see. I also dropped a valve on one this year. It migrated and took out a second cylinder...I was sick for a couple of days.

No on the valves, and piston, yes on the head and block. Now is the time you will need to decide on which is the best path to pursue on getting the motor fixed, repairs or replace the parts I had two different exhaust valve heads break off when racing a 426 Hemi in NHRA stock after missing a shift once and again a year later when a shift fork break inside the trans

Dale mears has a guy that welds cast iron. He's real fair on pricing.

Some irony that the Headhunter will be looking for a new head (and piston). Were these the valves with a square groove for the locks, or the beadlocks? I think the beadlock would be a good deal on 5/16" valve stems to reduce the stress concentration around the groove.

I wouldn't think it would be worth fixing that head given new ones are available. My condolences on your loss.

i have taken the head apart and haveing it cleaned to take to rays crack service just to see if the head can be fixed and how much to justify which way to go. the good news is so far i havent found a crack in the cylinder wall so the block will only need to be honed so far need to get a piston to j&e to see what 4 pistons will be

Thats too bad. One bright thing though, I broke a Hemi head the same way in 1980. I was two years finding a good head to replace it. Now all you have to do is pick up the phone and you'll get a new one within a week.
I have probably bought 10 sets of used Hemi heads over the years and the one recommendation I can make is not to buy other peoples used up junk. Buy new and don't worry about it.
