Ding, Ding, Ding Ding!!! DodgeFreak makes the 500th post on this thread and wins a brand new, never-titled, never-driven, zero miles 1970 426 Hemi 4-speed Superbird!!! Well, it was a nice thought anyway! Cool pic from '74 by the way!

Scat_Pack, ol' King Richard has a really good friend (I can't remember his name but I want to say it's a Gene somebody-or-other) and he has given his friend several cars over the years. One of the original race Superbirds being one of them. This fellow is a very private fellow and does not allow his cars to have any media exposure or actually any type of exposire for that matter. It sure would be nice to see what this cool old race Bird looks like though...

Onebad, I remember reading an artical in a magizine years back about the guy you are thinking of. It showed Richards 70 Superbird and said it was traded to the guy for a backhoe!. I think the guy is from Virginia.

You might remember a post of mine asking if anyone was familiar with a yard of six Superbirds in the Moonville SC area. Anyway, the guy that owned them told me that Buddy Arrington (long time Mopar/Nascar racer and father of Mopar engine builder Joey) had a Superbird that he had built his basement around. Anybody heard this one before?

Man, the cool old pics just keep coming and coming!

Platinum, I remember that primered Pro Street Bird from Chelsea in '85. I think I have video of it but no pics. Whatever became of that Bird? Was it a real Bird?

I'll have to do some checking but i'm pretty sure I have a pic of the old Petty Race Superbird, that is in the gentlemans house. I also believe that I have a magazine article that features a photo of the car, and also some video. give me a few days to dig it all up.

On the hunt for my dad's old cars. They include 5 Daytona's, 2 superbirds, and 2 500's. Very interested in finding the Red on Red Daytona, and Q5 Charger 500, and have found both cars.

That Gary Lazar superbird 426 ragtop made from a satellite 70 conv and a wrecked hemi superbird. Is that Sweden superbird ragtop on that website.I had a chance to buy it for $25 K and passed on it .Gary sold it to someone or auctioned as a real deal. And it went to Sweden. And that person got the real news about that car after joining the wingcar club

Who the heck is this Gary Lazar character anyway? I saw that convertible "Bird" at the 1984 Mopar Nationals at Indy and assume that he still owned it at that time. I feel really bad for the folks in Sweden getting screwed on thinking they were buying the real deal. It probably gave them a real good impression of Americans. If they still own the car though and paid $25,000 for it and it has a Hemi in it, they didn't do too bad in today's standards as they do have a unique car.

On another note, I would believe that Chrysler built '70 Daytonas any day of the week before I believed that they built convertible Superbirds...

Man i can't believe someone would wanna pass off that car as a real Superbird. I mean i have pictures of that car from as early as 1983/84 and i've always known it wasn't a real superbird.

I did some quick checking and found the Petty Superbird belongs to Hugh Hawthorne of Richmond, Va. Apparently he also has one of Petty's 80's Grand Prix 2+2 also. Must keep that one in the bathroom. Sunroof, If you can find some pics of it in his house that would be great!
