i was thinking it would be helpfull to have the groove spiral to feed the material out instead of clogging.

I cut mine at an angle for just that purpose. But I stilled pulled the cam in and out a few times wiped it clean , so I wouldnt get any sharp pieces grinding away at the bearing.

Im not sure but I think I offered to lend it to you at the beginning of the season. Or someone up that way.

They are easy enough to make with any old cam. I used a hack saw so my slot is rather thin but worked great. mike

I am sure they had a honing fixture that final sized the cam tunnel after the installation of the bearings. In any case, the Mopar cam bearing installation is always an adventure.

So, is this also happening with aftermarket blocks?

Just curious, because I would think that those issues would be addressed when designing a new block..

Chris..

Here's an answer Rick Ehrenburg recently gave on another thread.

Quote:

Here's a dirty little Mopar secret: OEM, all cam bearings were way undersize. On the engine line, the cam bearings were line bored to size. That's why all of Shep's old MP "bulletins" said to not change the cam bearings unless they were really shot!
