Great looking photo's, i'll have to get off my lazy butt, and scan those pics i talked about the other week. got a new computer and haven't done a darn thing with it since i got it the other week.
On the hunt for my dad's old cars. They include 5 Daytona's, 2 superbirds, and 2 500's. Very interested in finding the Red on Red Daytona, and Q5 Charger 500, and have found both cars.

I saw the earlier pics of this car in this thread, but didn't know whether or not it was the real prototype. Everything I have read to this date said that the car was scrapped somewhere along the line. At first I was skeptical, but it then I started looking at old newsprint pics of the car, and it sure looks like the same one, so I'm now convinced. It's good to know that it still exists. You'll have to forgive me for being late to the party, I have been fairly busy for the last year. Thanks for enlightening me, Platinum.

Platinum, lots of coooool pics! The Black Hemi Daytona is also Jerry Service's car.
The blue Bird with the white top belonged to Dick Drake out of Kansas City, Missouri. I remember that Nationals at Chelsea very well. Dick was trying to convince everyone that that Bird came with a white vinyl top from the factory. Maybe Doug could enlighten us on whether it was ever verified or not but I don't believe that it was.
69HemiGTX, wow I have never heard the rumors that the prototype was destroyed. I met Jerry Service and saw his red '68 1/2 Hemi 500 in 1981 and always knew it was around.
Danny, I been wondering where all them pics were that ya been supposed to scan in. Start scanning em in and send em on over!

69HemiGTX, yup, you're right. The video of the Turbines being destroyed is a total bummer.
I think ol' Jerry Service may have had an "in" or two at the Proving Grounds in Chelsea seeing as how he lives right in the general vicinity and that may have aided in him getting the 500 prototype and it not being scrapped.
