Here's a nice shot from the very first wing car meet from Talladega 1975. Cars of note are the Keith Black Hemi Daytona in the first row, and Joe Machado's silver Daytona at far right. This is the one with the '68 Charger round marker lights and long ram manifolds. A stunning car.

Nice vintage picture there Doug.I seen the Then Gilbert Tarr right in the front row XX29J9B402974.Mike and Caty Downing Keith black hemi daytona they have this car currently in Calif.Was a orig yellow hemi 4 speed.And Joe Machados daytona after many changes and paint schemes .Is back in Orange in the hands of Greg Peck as I recall

Below are two pictures taken at a Mopar Muscle Club meet in Centralia, Kansas in the mid 1980s. As I remember the 6 BBL Superbird was owned by a dealership and had never been sold to a customer. The car had extremely low mileage, but did have some minor nicks and scrapes from being on display in the showroom.

Does anyone know any more about this Superbird? I have no idea where the car is now...

Allen, very, very cool pics! I have a couple questions on that Bird. Did the dealer do some modifications on it? It is missing the headlight door Bird decal and the latch tray appears to be body color. Also do you know if the original tires were replaced due to dryrot? I thought all Birds came with the small white letter Polyglas GT's.

I'll keep digging around for more pics!

John - From what I remember, there were a number of things that had been changed on the car, including the tires,battery, belts, hoses, and radiator cap. Although an extremely low mileage car, it wasn't mint by any means. I only saw the Superbird the one time, and don't remember a lot of the details of the car. I believe it was from a town within a 100 miles of the meet, maybe in South East Nebraska...

I don't remember talking to the owner about the latch tray, so I do not know the story behind it.

Maybe Dave or someone else will come to the rescue again with the story on the car...

Allen, I hear ya there. In any event, it's still a way-cool Bird and like ya said, I wonder what ever became of it...

Here is another picture of the Superbird in a junkyard near San Antonio in the 1980s. This was taken at another wrecking yard owned by the same guy, and it was about a year after the other pictures. It was just put into the front line of cars and left to the effects of the weather...

I don't know what ever became of the car as I moved from San Antonio for about 7 years, and when I returned I could not track it down...

Allen, was that the Bird that was used to tow a trailer around the yard to gather up parts?

John - Yes, that is the same car but this picture was taken about a year later at another JY owned by the same guy...

Some great photo's especially of the Q5 Daytona. I love that color, would love to find my dad's old Q5 500, and have it and a Q5 Daytona parked side by side in my garage, maybe some day before i die. Would be a great site though.
