markz528 master Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 4,293 Morrow, OH	What I do is open my manual valve before the first time I start the car that day to pre-lube. I then close the valve and start the car. When the engine warms up, I open the valve and leave it open until the car is ready to go back on the trailer. Rev the rpms a little till the pressure builds and close the valve. Repeat next race day......... 67 Coronet 500 9.610 @ 139.20 mph 67 Coronet 500 (street car) 14.82 @ 94 mph 69 GTX (clone) - build in progress......

No the instant it starts it fills the cylinder back up home of the Sox and Martin Hemi Duster

I run the Moroso unit and their tech support guy told me the effective quantity is closer to 2 1/2 quarts. I have a 8 quart pan (plus filter) and run a total of 11 quarts. When you start the engine and the valve is open, it takes a little time to build oil pressure above 10 lbs (accumulator charge pressure). When it is cold I don't like that pressure build delay. After it warms up it doesn't bother me. I rather have some additional churning of the oil when its cold than have the delay.
