So for the manual lever system you just open the valve before you make the run? or do you have a have a cable/lever to open it should the need arise. I guess I dont understand how it would automatically release pressurized oil with a manual ball valve at the accumulator. Sorry for the ignorance.

automatic only with electric..

you need to read this tech bulletin and it will educate and well as answer all your questions

What I do is open my manual valve before the first time I start the car that day to pre-lube. I then close the valve and start the car. When the engine warms up, I open the valve and leave it open until the car is ready to go back on the trailer. Rev the rpms a little till the pressure builds and close the valve.

Repeat next race day.........

So you let the crank beat the three extra quarts of oil around till it warms up?

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

I run the Moroso unit and their tech support guy told me the effective quantity is closer to 2 1/2 quarts. I have a 8 quart pan (plus filter) and run a total of 11 quarts.

When you start the engine and the valve is open, it takes a little time to build oil pressure above 10 lbs (accumulator charge pressure). When it is cold I don't like that pressure build delay. After it warms up it doesn't bother me.

I rather have some additional churning of the oil when its cold than have the delay. I have never seen any negative consequences of running it that way and you need to remember that it is only low rpms and only till it warms up some..........
