I'm not attacking him. It could happen to anyone.
But, it comes with the job he has, like it or not. The rules are not vague on this one. Take your lumps, learn from it, and move on.

If he'd had breakfast and did the test later in the day,he would have never popped the number he did.

in this case, yes, it may seem harsh...IF his story is true!
what if he did wake up and pound a beer first thing in the morning?
ok, still not a big deal, well under the legal limit, sure, but what if Allen Johnson was killed in a crash on the big end, because the other guy's car got out of shape and crossed the center line...and the other driver was tested and had a .027?
the rules are the rules...and it sounds like Johnson is being a man and owning up to it. zero tolerance for alcohol means zero tolerance, not 'well, we'll let a .03 go by, but anything higher is a no-go'

I for one believe his account, IF he did have something to drink in the AM, then went early as possible to the "test" that would make him an idiot, I don't think that. He thought he was clean and just wanted to get the test out of the way,and it bit him. I do believe there will be allot of 23hr testers in the future. Now lets move on and find the next thing to cut down the best MOPAR representative we have in Pro racing

He's mine, too.
But, what is the point of any rules at all if there is always going to be a "mitigating circumstance"?
Why not let it go if some uses conduit rather than roll cage tubing in an area of the car because "where it is doesn't contribute to the integrity of the vehicle"? Or, giving someone a rerun when they red light because some weird thing happened and it "was a fluke"?
No, I can't agree with you guys on this one. You let this go....if you do you can never get away with enforcing it. Everyone will always have a "valid reason".

My 1) Allen Johnson is not some out of control drinking maniac. He and his family have done terrific things for the sport, and will continue to do so.He simply enjoyed an evening with family and/or friends. 2) I am sure he had NO IDEA this would be an issue. I am quite certain he wasnt out drinking all night or got up in th e morning and downed a six pak. That being said, he IS a professional, and should have been more aware of the time etc, knowing he drank the night before. He is now an expert. 3) I bet if you asked every single Pro Stock driver in the country if they were worried about driving next to Allen Johnson, regardless of his .027, they would tell you there is not another man on the planet they would trust more. 4) NHRA would be absolute MORONS to react any further on this. 5) No one right now feels worse than Allen. Its easy to be a Sunday morning quarterback on this one. Yep, probably some pancakes and a coffee before the test, and we wouldnt be here.None of us ( that I know of) are professional Pro STock racers, and have the experience of racing at this level, and understand all the things that happen during preparation for this type and level of competiion. I am sure there were a LOT of other things that he was worried about that morning, and NOT worried about blowing a suspect number on a breath analyzer. 6) Allen and family are some of the best people in motorsports. We should not be on here, a place where we should be honored with his membership, bashing him. I would hardly want to run a "rap" sheet on half of this population. &) Lets support our fellow friend and racer. We're supposed to all be waving the Mopar banner thru thick and thin. This is a good time to not be an ambulance chaser, but a member in support.
