Hmm, so when was that car converted, and a nose cone and wing put on it? I know of a fewer older 500's that people had put nose cones and wings on back in the early 80's, and possibly the last 70's.

On the hunt for my dad's old cars. They include 5 Daytona's, 2 superbirds, and 2 500's. Very interested in finding the Red on Red Daytona, and Q5 Charger 500, and have found both cars.

There was another Charger 500, that was a HEMI car that was converted to a Daytona, that is currently in the Florida area i do believe. the car is an automatic, console, b5 blue, blue interior. Fender tag reads XS, but vin number is XX, anyone know any more about this car? i'd have to look up the complete vin number but off the top of my head i forget.

Danny, that's the car. He said in an email to me that it says "XS" on the fender tag and "XX" on the dash tag.

I don't remember if I posted this or not but there is an F6 Daytona at the Auto Gallery in Spring Grove, Illinois that is stored there. The story I heard is that the guy who owns it is an airline pilot and only comes and drives the car occasionally. It has been a couple of years since I have been up there and I don't know if it is still there. If nobody here knows about it I will stop up there in a couple of days and check it out.

The airline pilots car is F6 with power windows. He's had it since the early 80's. Nice guy, and it was a very nice car last time I saw it. He has a Viper coupe, but still loves the Daytona.

Dave, yep, that's the car! I wonder how many times it had changed hands since that newsletter article...

The silver 500/clonetona didn't change hands until the current owner bought it recently. The newsletter was somewhere around 1983.

By the way, the vintage photos of the silver car posted here, were sourced from our club archives. This past year, we catalogued all correspondence and photos of known cars. We can look up a car by VIN and see if there are any old photos or paperwork on file. For many cars, there is a nice paper and photo trail that exists - which is a nice thing to have access to twenty years later.

The earliest record I have goes back to Todd Underwood in 1981. Had 5k miles at the time.

I am now officially so thoroughly confused with all these cars that I'm gonna give up on keeping track of what's what and whose belonged to who and all that. This thread has gotten so out of hand that pretty soon we're gonna have to hire a geneaologist or whatever they call them people that put together family trees to trace back all this stuff and make detailed charts!

Question is though that I was being given information on the blue car through a different gentleman. but as i turns out, the photo he sent me of the fender tag, and of the car are of the same car you all were talking about as being silver. Its a beautiful car, but I was told it was just missing the motor, but apparently it was minus tranny also.

I'm really beginning to wonder about that WHOLE story...
