Thanks for the pics Dave! I remember the "Nuke GM" 1971 Challenger (Pic 13) from a later Mopar Nats in Columbus... A friend from San Antonio used to have "I Eat GM" plates on his 1970 440 powered Challenger R/T convertible... it helped him meet a lot of new acquaintances...

I believe you are right about the Garlits Museum having one, and I believe that is the one that I saw a picture of. Here is another pic showing the detail of the Hemi cut-away engine...

Back at the headquarters hotel, the owners removed the transport stabilizers and plugged the display in. The engine rotated, while the internal components operated as though the engine was running... albeit veeeeery slowly. Thats what it was made to do, demonstrate how the Hemi functioned. The rotating engine was illuminated by the lighted base. Notice in the two shots of the right side of the engine the different position of the #8 (aft) piston...

Another "display model" was a trailer full of a huge elephant statue... now if it had a 426 Hemi on its back, that would have been too cool! Still, even without the Hemi, participants took the photo-op with their cars. I also followed suit, parking my Rent-a-Mopar next to the fake pachyderm...

Last picture for the night... Trivia question for former NHOA members... Who from Hawaii attended the 1986 NHOA National Meet in Lexington?

No photos of the creamy yellow cutaway Hemi at Race Rock Orlando.
It seems I saw another one at Don Garlits Museum during Speed Week at Daytona 2001.

Dave the cut away HEMI on loan at Garlits belongs to Alan & Debbie Clark from Greenwood IN and I'm sure is the same one at the 86 NHOA National event.
