I hope you guys forgive me, but I have a lot of questions these days...
I'm still guessing about some facts in the wiring/ electrical system.
Question 1: How is the electric windshield washer pump actuated? I currently have an old footpump but a rally cluster (it's a sticked together crossbreed "clone"). So I have the wiper switch in the dashboard that has a wire going to where the washer jar is... But I have no idea how/when the switch gives a signal to that wire. The switch has only 2 positions: low and high speed for the wipers. I wonder if I can just buy a new jar with integrated pump to replace the ugly footpump.
Question 2: Where does the passenger side, engine compartment wiring harness goes through?? It's connected to the bulkhead connector and then obviously runs along the firewalls frontside. But somewhere near the passenger side valve cover it will run... where? Along the valve cover?? Is it fixed somewhere (mine was just layed onto the upper edge of the valve cover)? The destination is the alternator area of course... but do the horn/washer-jar wires go the same way?
The bloody service manual shows in all details the situation of the under dash harness - but not in the engine bay.
Question 3: What does the "headlight delay relay"? I don't have it, just the empty plug for it - but it sounds interresting. There is another "delay relay" - that one is for A/C cars (I don't have A/C), is it?
Question 4: For the Challenger the "Courtesy" lamp under the dash was an option - right? There is no connector in the harness for that - right? Must be connected to the body wiring connector to the wire that goes to the dome light - right?
After all these years having a 440 I realized that this means having an attitude... and a budget.

The dash switch can be pushed/depressed, which turns the pump on (it can not be pushed while in the off position, or it will turn slightly so as to start wiping).

Question 2: Where does the passenger side, engine compartment wiring harness goes through??
All wires run along the valve cover, intake manifold-side, secured with the (two or three) wiring tabs welded on the valve cover side. It goes to the alternator and water temperature sender, and also to the washer pump and horns if the horns are on the passenger side inner fender, which is the case for a Challenger).

Question 3: What does the "headlight delay relay"?
From what the name implies, I guess it will leave the headlights on for a while (turn ignition key to off position, then turn headlights off) so you can leave the car, and still have some light to walk to the door of your home before the lights are turned off. Time Delay Relay is indeed AC related, I believe it is used to make the AC compressor run on a regular basis when AC is not used.

I'd say that's probably right, if you speak about the lamp which is somewhere around the heater controls, aimed towards the floor. There may be a second one on the passenger side, I don't remember.
