i am trying to help a friend out with his duster. he is new to mopars. he is in the process of rebuilding his front brakes (10" drums). he says that he cant find the right parts or they are discontinued. i do not know much on front drums. any help or leads to the right parts would be appreciated. thanks folks!

ten inch drums were used for many years after his car was built. Don't ask for the year car just the brake parts you need, they are out there and common, maybe tell the kid behind the counter it is a 85 truck with 10" rear drums. Basically the parts are not discontinued but that year is off the books.

ten inch drums are also still over the counter. Also a cheap junk yard find. You just need to know more than the kid behind the counter. I bet he asked if the car was two or four barrel and wether it has air conditioning. These old applications aren't on computer data bases so some folks need a little help finding what you need. Those drums actually look like what I need for the mini van
By the way nice job on the part numbers Mike, I am gonna save that data thanx.

There weren't any 4.5" bolt patterns in '72, I don't think they became available until '73 on disc brake A bodies.

Is his '72 a /6 car? If so he would have 9" brakes IIRC.

.....just got to look closer,...perhaps he has the 9" brakes,...if so, here's the 4" bolt circle that some of the /6 cars run,....specs

I would tend to agree with Scott on this one....

Yep.
front ones you can find all day long.
It's the rear ones that are discontinued.
