Is this going to be an all weather car? I don't run them, but I do my best to stick to dry roads. While I have never had a problem, I wonder how important they really are?

I'm sure you can get by without em. I believe they prolong the spindle seals and maybe keep some splash off your inner fenders? Might even protect your rotor from flying debris.

When I put the bigger rotors on my wagon, I left off the dust shields. I was all worried about dirt and funk getting in past the rear seal of the rotor, but, I never had it happen in over 40K miles of daily driving, including driving in flooded conditions (water was almost to the center of the wheel ). Don't sweat it. As long as the seal is good, you'll be fine.
