Anybody run one?
How do you like it?

I am trying to find a deal. May have found one. Then I want to have a browell bell made for my small block. Should be a lot of fun to drive.

Need to get rid of two powerglides to afford it.

Leon

Can someone tell me the advantage one of these has over a regular clutch? Why not just run a regular Liberty 5 speed, and a single disc clutch?

After getting "the run around"..i'm being polite, by a converter mfgr...i'd be more than happy to spend some time learning to adjust a pressure plate.

I have a $1000 umbrella strand....

I have four turbo spline torque converters. 7" 7,600 stall, 8" 7,100 stall, And two 9.5" nitrous converters. Do not want to give them away. The way I understand it a simple gear change in the Liberty and a converter swap and I can run any engine combo I desire. In other word One transmission will do anything I want. Game over in that dept.

I have a Bruno/Lenco set up in the avenger but no runs yet.
I didn't want to mess with a clutch either.
I have a friend that runs the same set up and never any trouble. The air trans break should help on a protree.

you just have to keep an eye on that liberty...
Its very easy to break sliders when you have the converter rotating all the time... always remember to push brake button before engaging a gear.
don t ask

Leon, If you buy a liberty make sure you buy the splined shaft transmission and not the welded cluster, this way you can change your own gears instead of having to send it back to have them changed. IMO P.S go with the clutch, that way you won't have to keep wearing that skirt. LOL

Any idea what the weight difference is between a box and a glide (without a clutch/converter)?

Make sure you are at a full stop before engaging the brake to put it in reverse or that will snap the shaft also.
I have a 3 speed lencodrive in my 10.5 car. Since its supercharged i don't need the bruno converter drive.

Is that what you have in the Dart? I do know you have to engage the trans brake on the lenco drive to pull it into gear, but how was the starter fitment in the bell housing and such. Heard some hard luck stories on the first ones mated to a Hemi. Did you have to mod the floor much? I want one for my Cuda...

Donald I don't know if this will ever happen. You seem to do well with the clutch. I just have so many skirts to wear(converters).

I am bored to death running this powerglide. They are the greatest transmission sense sliced bread. Every Mopar needs to run one ask anyone. Try so sell one and you find out what people really think of them. I have over $3,500 in each tranny and would be lucky to get $2,000 freshly rebuilt.

Leon, it's all in fun lol. Hey you do what you have to do, I understand about having the parts and nobody wants to give anything for them (converters and trans.) Seems like when you buy them they are gold but when you sell they are not worth anything. Good luck in what ever you decide. I would think you would be able to keep the motor happier with the 5 speed.

If i was running a 5 speed it most definately would have a clutch hooked to it.

A Liberty Extreme is a 4 spd. Some guys running a Bruno run a G-force 3 spd.

We run back to back with less than an hour between. With a clutch behind an engine like mine there is some clutch maintenance I just don't have time for. Despite a $3,500 clutch aint cheap. I already have plenty converters to run in this thing.

Many clutch guys make clutches appear the way to go. The fact is those guys with clutch cars that seem to be majical are. Guys like Billy Glidden make it seem that anything else would be retarded. For him that is the case he knows clutches and can listen to his car and know when he has too much or too little and adjust for those conditions with shift points. I'll be the first to admit I'm not that good and don't have the time to get that good with it.

Guess the Scottish wear skirts so they don't get their hardware caught in the unfamiliar zipper.LOL

What kind of oil pressure do you guys use in the converter?
Mine is slipping a bit too much, just wondering if higher pressure would fix it...
