I was told that to lockout my MSD big block distributor I need to buy a lockout kit. Does anyone have the part number for this? I can't find it anywhere. Or is a kit not needed?

Not needed on mine. Drive the roll pin out. Pick the plate up, turn 180*'s (I think) and drop th pin in the hole. Drive the roll pin back in and it's locked.

Pretty easy to do... I locked mine out and have a stage 3 retard system...
I'm not a big fan of that msd model, had the lockout pin break on the roadster and wipe out the reluctor
You can get the welded shaft from msd for that dizzy pretty reasonably priced or at the very least I would pull the shaft and weld it yourself in the locked position and do away with the pin altogether.

Quicktree, just having a timing issue, we're gonna see if this helps. Well that sucks about the pin breaking.

Well, I got it apart and it's already been welded up, so I didn't need to do any of this tonite. I put it all back together and I'll reset my timing tomorrow. Now I'm really confused as to why I'm having this small timing issue. I have to set the timing at 39 at idle, to get 35 total when revving or just bringing the RPM's up. It didn't use to be like this so I'm not sure what changed. Cam shouldn't be moving forward with the cam button and timing cover brace.

Could the chain be streached?

Timing chain was checked, it's fine but that was a good idea. Thanks Sledge, I do remember someone mentioning the 4 degree deal but I guess I just couldn't make myself believe it since I've never ever seen that before. That's actually not a good setup to have on the street since the timing has to be at 39 at idle. But I did install the retard module selector this week so I'm good to go, I can flick the toggle switch and drive around at 30 total.
