Always nice to compare combos and output. I feel like mine is underperforming by about 2-3 tenths and I use the word "turd" jokingly since some people seem to be able to nail it the first time. I think I can get all mine has to offer with some more passes. Also having Brett work the heads over some in the upcoming month. Probably regrind the cam also after getting some new flow numbers. I just want to see a "real" 850 hp run what it should in a 2850 lb car. Jim, I would be interested in your cam specs when you get the chance. Thanks.
I'll get back to you tomorrow. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbs.gif)

894hp-657tq
Built to spray a little, but decided to go N/A. Car is now finished just in time for the bad weather. We will run this engine for one season before selling it and doing a full N/A build.
I think Jims dyno is alittle happy..lol
My old motor was real similiar it was 410 inch 4.185 bore 3.72 stroke. It was the Motor that Tim Davis built for Dan Palolini with was a record holder in NSCA real street.Dan never dynoed it. I bought it and had Tim update it,the only thing we changed was the intake to a 420 ported by Davis. It was 16.1 compression.it made 880 on BES dyno and ran 9.18 in my car.It had a weird head I which I had back.CFE 16 degree this motor loved rpm we had it 9400 on the dyno made 880 at 8800. That motor got pieced out along time ago
You may be right.
We questioned it too, but Precision says it's a typical Superflow calibration. On the best pulls, 894hp-657tq was corrected, 886hp-651tq was observed.
We'll find out when we try to show it in the car. Might be time to invest in a data logger. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif)

Has anyone built a drag motor based on an A8 sprint block? I know all the troubles with getting parts. Just looking for the durability aspect. I have one sitting here that I could use. It just looks "flimsy" to me. I had dreams of reworking it for p7s, but the cam tunnel would need to be totally replaced. Would mostlikely go with some w8s or 9rps.

Ex sprintcar engine from Us in my Chug. 410in 4.15 x 3.8 A8 block solid roller 268/50 780lift W9 heads, titanium valves, pac springs, jessel rockers JE pistons Carrilo rods Bryant Crankshaft Barns 4 stage dry sump Kinsler injector stacks 1 7/8 step into 2inch pipes, 3 1/2 collectors Dyno 875hp 652fbs Been running for 4years never touched the engine besides plugs and oil Have only done street events on slippery tracks but will take it to the local 1/4mile track and see how it goes in a week and will post my time here good or bad Cars weight 3412 Lbs I went and did some passes, my car wasn't up to Tec so only a couple 1/8 mile runs before being asked to leave. Managed 1.45 60's, with 6.160 at 113mph. Very ugly too with allot of wheel spin and the [censored] bouncing it wasn't pretty!! Only using half peddle in first A8 blocks would have to be strong they run for 20 laps at full song at 8000-9500 on dirt getting banged around, running over corrugated and grippy parts of the track to find the right line.

My A8's are crossbolted deep skirt early/heavy? blocks, flimsy is not how I would describe them.
Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

I think the block your speaking of is the touring series A8. Super cool block to have. Mine is non skirted splayed caps. It has cooling jackets only part way down the cylinder, maybe 3 or 4 inches. There is no "extra" material anywhere on this block.
