Since the cam turns half of what the crank does wouldn't the drill be turning the oil pump faster that the engine at idle?
Most our drills spin at 1800/2400 RPM and most cars idle at 900/1000 RPM.80 PSI on a drill is not a issue. If it was a lot less,I would be looking for a problem.

a lot depnds on your drill too. I use a 1/2 drive DeWalt and on high speed it's 2400. So it's 4800 engine speed and it's usually about 20psi higher turning the engine by hand to oil the top end on the stand than once it's running on the stand. I think you're fine.
Well, art is art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water! And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now, uh... Now you tell me what you know.

My 1/2 inch drill would not even spin 250 rpms once the oil pump pressured up. Spinning the drill with out the primer rod, it spins fast of course, but once the pump got pressure up, it just boggs my drill way down. At any rate, my new 499 on the floor, hooked to the trans, spinning the engine over with the starter hooked up and plugs out, it was 85 psi on the gauge. Once I started the engine up in the car, and broke it in, it was 75 psi hot at 2k and 45 at 850 rpms. It goes to 85 psi at 6k. I just run straight valvoline vr1 30w. I was considering putting a stock pump on. I installed an HV since I had an 8 qt pan and roller rockers with a solid cam. I feel it is too much pressure at the higher rpms. I street drive this engine
