i got one on loan off my buddys s10 (he told me because its off a chebby it'll 10hp....i then proceeded to smack him.) im gunna try it and see if i like it or not. so far everything seems to be the same. but thank you for all the imput. and the alternator braket is a 66 "poly" 318 bracket... the car was originally a poly 318 and i smoked it, shortly after rebuilding at...a poly doesnt like 5000rpms and the "LA" bolted right in. and a used all original front bracket assemblies, to give it a different flare.

People used to think those toilet paper oil filters were good too. I guess a KN would be vastly superior to those stupid foam triangle "air cleaners" that some people use. If you go KN, at least use the prefilter wrap they sell. Otherwise, you might as well dump really fine sand down your engine. Maybe if you need to seat your rings, they might help. Whatever, your engine, your choice.

FRAMS are the answer!!! the E-1065 was the filter i got on loan. . and well the lid hits the hood when getting on the 4 barrels. so i guess it was only a dream. so i have been running the fram CA184 on my duster and coronet and guess i'm going to have to continue to use it....like every one says if it works don't fix it.....or something like that.

the more dirt that cakes on the outside the finer the dust/dirt it filters with out decreaseing the air flow thru it

more dirt caked on the outside = 1000s more finer air passages thru the filter media the air goes thru

you cant see thru mine right now,thats for sure

now if you let it dry out I could see it not filtering very well

the oil is not gonna let any dust thru if it is kept properly oiled

read the box on theory of operation on how it works,it is to be oiled more often if it is in a real dusty service area and heat will dry it out

so it does need to be serviced from time to time

where I am here in Fl we have lots of dirt roads and dust...paper filters dont cut it every 2 months and mpgs and performance fall right off on mine when the go from white to gray on the paper media

which when I added it up was 100$ a yr x 10 so far thats 1000$ I would have spent...just on air filters...

so 40$ on the K&N 1x and a recharge kit for 10$ 1x for 2 cleanings and 5+ oilings

and it been 10 yrs now = 50$

I have saved a few bucks in the long run,IMHO

to each his own,if it wears out from it not working I will build another and press on with the same 50$ worth of reusable filter

I agree. A brand new paper filter may perform pretty well in both flow and filtration, but flow has to suffer with use (my body agrees). I'll take my chances with the K&N, Its not like I have a $10K motor that I thrash on dirt roads anyway.

the motor mounts are both new as of 3 days ago!!! haha, amazing that the mounts were new 9 months ago when i did the "LA" swap.. and who woulda thought chinese dura-won't-last mounts will break apart, with only a mild 318. , but they are all new and all tight now , its just a tight fit under the hood.

you next mod should be one of these

the six pack...I toyed with the idea didnt have the heart to cut the hood tho.

Maybe a good combo would be KN prefilter wrap with an open element paper filter? lol. Seriously, one of the above poster linked a comparison to air filter tests done by an average guy, and that answered my questions once and for all. I used to be a staunch believer in the oiled filters. They do tend to leak a lot of stuff through. You can always blow (with moderate low flow) air from the inside to clean out paper filters to give longer service as well. Here in Nebraska, it is windy and dusty all the time, and it was just a major chore to try and service the pre-oiled type. Maybe if you had 2 of them, one ready to go wrapped in plastic, and when you got ready to clean your other one, just slap it on. and switch back and forth, but still use the prefilter wrap. The air filter on a car is the only thing that works better the dirtier it gets. Until it stops all air flow. Then it is 100% efficient. lol.

im looking for one. and then put a sled city originall style hemi scoop... just hard to justify the $$$$ for the lame 4 door street car

once you get the six pac on a hood then you can do up the 8 3/4 in the rear...looks like it sits high enuff
