If you plan on using any larger than 5/16 pushrods, you will need to grind the heads for pushrod clearance. I would step up the springs in the heads if your going to run a roller cam. Maybe you can buy the heads bare and purchase all your valvetrain seperately through Manley. Since the heads are so inexpensive, I would purchase the CNC ported versions from 440 Source. I have been told that 440source uses Jeff at Modern cylinder heads in Michigan to port the heads, This is WELL worth it with these particular heads. I installed a set on a customers engine and they ended up working out OK once I had the valve job and guide work and pushrod clearancing taken care of. Next guy that wants the 440 Source heads on an engine that I build will get the Porting treatment. Another thing that I noticed was the valve seats protruded into the combustion chamber, we ended up facing the seat and re-doing the valve job.

Mine were the first ones made.I changed springs retainers and locks as I run a .588 solid cam and 4 speed. My shop also cleaned them up and back cut the valves.Third year on street and strip and no problems.I ran the FelPro Marine gaskets with mine.I run 3/8 pusheods and they just narely cleared but its best to check them.Rocky
