My gauge seems to have gone out, the low fuel light will come on whenever the car is on but the needle does not give a pressure rating. All the wires in the rear seem fine the wire going into the fuel pump is also intact.

Does anyone know where something could have went bad?

In the tank.
your looking for a metal strap that connects the metal line coming out of the tank with the metal line to the motor.
Basically it is a jumper over the rubber hose used to connect the two.
If that strap gone you will need to replace it, If it there take it off and clean all the rust off then replace.

under the body connecting the fuel line to the motor from the gas tank. Under the trunk floor coming out of gas tank. You are lookin for the fuel gauge not the fuel pressure gauge, right? Is this on you charger or something newer with injection?

Crappy picture, the ground clamp goes from the sending unit to the fuel line. Typically rusted out. You can use 2 fuel line clamps and a peice of wire to fix it for a while until the copper wire corrades.

is that flat metal wire what you're talking about? Would it be easier to take off the bumper? or is my fuel pump vertical?

there
you can see the strap just above the top rubber hose kinda hard to pick out unless you know what to look for. It attaches to the metal line coming out the tank and to the hard line on the other side of the rubber hose (not quite in the picture).Just the one gauge from the factory, some folks use a pressure gauge in hi po app.s

no the fuel pump is on the motor in a 77 charger, unless some one put some after market set up for fuel injection. Do you have a carb or fuel injection?

what you want is the fuel feed to the front from the back. coming out at the tank. Just like in the picture and it is not a wire. It is a flat metal strap as is seen from the side in the pic.

I suggested to you on another thread, you might want to look for a "factory service manual" or an older Chiltons will be helpful.

I simply wanted to know if the wire i described (going into the suggested fuel pump) is the same "strap" you are talking about.

I do move around the forum and have seen you post in someone elses thread about something meaningless to the subject. I have also had several threads which i may have also stated my money issues and have talked about my many issues with a carburetor.

Forget the bumper. You need to stick your head up your rear.
OK, stick it up the car's rear.

The sending unit will be in the fuel tank above the rear end. It can be tricky to get to it if both rear tires aren't off the ground. With the rear suspension at full drrop you can reach it easier.
Be sure the metal part of the sending unit is grounded. There is a rubber isolated contact poking out of the sending unit. That's for the wire running to the gauge. Don't ground that one.

We all have money issies, that's pretty rude to post that.

If your gonna work on cars Factory service manuel should be in your library.

Agreed. but if i can get a picture of a similar tank why cant i ask a simple question to which i wasn't assured of?

No problems and no insult intended I was just trying to help out. I myself have money issues these days and my home is payed for.
The deal is we are here to help each other.
I was trying to help. You can access manuals at a library for free just can't take them home. I understand as well it is much easier to just go to the computer and ask but it is hard to diagnose on line.
Hope you get things sorted out.

A factory or chitons manual will also help you by teaching you the correct names of the parts you are asking about. It's hard to help if we aren't speaking the same language.
