wow I posted early, and felt I might have been out of line and too harsh, well not really, after I hit the send button,to Plumcrazy, I came back to see this up to 40 posts, I thought I might have said something wrong, but I guess my feelings are shared by the group, and as i suspected alot of business going away from Hughes. Im sure he will see this chat room discussion, and not see much money i the future, again, not because of his product, but because of his mouth, you dont tell everyone you slept with the bride at her and your bosses wedding

This fellow has just displayed much ignorance here. I will say now that as far as I knew, nobody directly involved blamed Hughes. They were aggressive cams, and newer grinds if I remember correctly, so we did question whether there may be a problem with the lobes at first. Of course we should have never even let that thought enter our minds, since Hughes apparently knows it all, but at that time we weren't aware of the fact. I am surprised he isn't building engines for professionals or something. Once it was all checked out, I believe that the conclusion was that the cams weren't at fault. I'll save the rest of my comments for later, I don't have time to get into it any further now.

Not good PR Hughes, since I'm sure "amateurs" make up the majoriry of your customers. If I'm ever a "pro" such as yourself, I might look into one of your cams.

That's just incredibly stupid.
For a company who based it's first line parts on someone else's camshafts (Engle) put into in a different package, Hughes sure is full of himself.
I'm happy with the custom Comp cam from fast68plymouth/Porter Racing Heads.

The last I checked, the Enginemasters statements were that when running one of these cams, be sure to check the lifter bores and that it WAS a lesson learned in the end. I wonder how many people out there have one of these oversized lifter bore blocks that are running just fine with another cam. So, to make Mr. Hughes happy, I will say it in front of all the people right here.. DO NOT BUY one of his cams unless you have had the lifter bores checked and/or resized and bushed But this ofcourse, is from an uN-professional, pea-on "hobbiest", so what would I know?

now let me think, if i were to get involved with another EM contest, whose cam would not make the list. it's hard for me to imagine the reason he's displaying that garbage. is he afraid someone might find out we got a discount on some cams. our engine made very good power and torque, i would think he would have focused on the positive. not very bright of the "pro" in my book.
we did have time constraints, shipping an engine around the country is time consuming and expensive. we made it to the show, and opened some eyes very wide. a controversial problem with the dyno may or may not have ended our chances, we may never know for sure. we did the best we could. had some of our suppliers decided to donate parts instead of just discounting them, we may have had enough money left over for additional testing. heck, we likely would have bushed the lifter bores before the final assembly. i guess mr. hughes doesn't have the nerve to ENTER a contest like that, but he sure has some nerve trying to make his product look good at the expense of others. he has mail by the way. you will never ever again see me promote his products or services. as of this moment, dave hughes does not exist...
i'd like to make it clear that there were members here who did donate parts and or services for free. to them i say, thank you for making the challenge possible.

Wow, that really is amazing what he wrote out.. as everyone else has said, hard to imagine what he thought to gain by it all Sure is nice to know there are lots of other places to get a cam out there though! The "amateurs" crack is really something.. at least all the amateurs here know where not to buy cams now!
