It takes big money to drive a pro stock car. You either own the car or you bring sponsors and money to the table. The days of making it on talent and good looks alone are long gone. Dave and his father still races in the sportsman classes with success. Recently picking up wins in both Top dragster and Super Gas among other classes.

I think now he is just sidelined with money, but he was banned from IHRA for life with the old Matte box deal. Is that what you're referring to?

check out www.mattyinovations.com it's basicly a down track timer w/ display that tells you if your going too fast or too slow in real time so It would make your car deadly!!! say your running too fast a light comes on and you pump the gas a couple time until it goes out and your safe.... I'm pretty sure it was legal until 93 or 94 back when Matty won the bracket finals

Connoly cheated, and should have been banned fro good, as anyone that knowingly cheats should. I don't know how you guys in the southeast deal with it. If anything is killing the big money races, that is it.
Do you have proof? I didn't think so. In the Country I love and live in you are innocent until PROVEN guilty. IIRC, no one was found with a matty box in their car. I am not defending DC, just sayin'.
IMO, the economy is killing big money races more then any other factor. That and at this time of year there are many places to race for good money.

No, he [and the dirty dozen] were banned from competing in IHRA. Bader's track was the home of the IHRA was it not?? And as soon as NHRA came in Bader bent over. Connelly won Prostock first time back at Norwalk. Ironic isn't it!

You are correct... and I believe Badder was the president of the IHRA at that time so THEY were banned from all of the IHRA tracks.... but in the end it was Bill that made the call so he had enough evidence (in his mind) to make the call... I know my brother raced against Dave back then and I'm sure they were using it at that time only because he was DEAD on many times in a row(even when he didnt need to... JMO

So Mr. P because Dave beat your brother he must have been cheating? Must be the same for anyone that is just good at what they do? Must be how Dave made it to pro stock, because he cheated so well Maybe thats why he is still out there winning now
