Thats a mean 383 ! The cost can be lower that you think on a stroker.... half of the stuff can be used.... except new bearings, rings, new crank, rods, pistons. bolt on the rest. heads, intake, carb, pan, cam, + exterior parts . i know first hand about budget strokers

I think the stroker kit is around $2,000? Heads with good springs/retainers/rockers $3,000+? Roller cam/lifters/timming chain/pushrods $1,000? Intake/carb $1500? Oil pan/pump/windage tray Maybe $500? machine work $1000-$1500?
So maybe $9,000 if you can do the assembly and reuse ignition/water housing and pump/pulleys/radiator and exhaust?
Add some trick parts or porting and I'm sure the cost will go up. You may be able to do it a bit cheaper too, but I think it would be difficult at the 700 range without compromising durability? The place where you could save some $$$ is if you can get a good used intake and carb and/or oil pan?
naaa... your way high on those numbers
LOL I would say those are low according to my build!
When I built my 451, I got the B-1 B/S heads from Koffels ready to run with stage 1 porting, roller springs, retainers, locks, head stud kit, 1.6:1 ratio rockers, pushrods, spark plugs, and shipping was right at $3,000. I bought my 451 assembled short block from muscle motors. They supplied the 400 block, 440 crank, 440 rods with ARP rod bolts and ARP main studs. Custom ross pistons, ultradyne roller cam and lifters, installed cam with double roller timming set. This had their race prep machining (Align honed, square decked, honed with torque plates, etc.) I don't recall if it came with an oil pump, but I had to supply the oil pan/pickup, and waterpump&housing. Anyhow with shipping it was right at $3500. So I had $6500 into my long block, plus the cost of the intake/carb (about $1,000), the oil pan/pickup ($300), ignition system ($300), headers ($300), plus misc stuff, so I guess it was about $8500, but that was 15 years ago. That engine made about 600 HP on pump gas, but I was running a small 0.610" lift 254/254 @ 0.050" street roller cam.
