I don't want to be negative..but you should have got a manual before even starting. Your already in over your head and using the case as a core makes it even more complicated. There were production changes(zillions ) through the years and you'll be in trouble if you mismatch parts.
One book that is a good reference is by HPBooks.. Torqueflite A-727 Transmission handbook. Use that along with a mopar service book or even a B&M book that comes with their big rebuild kits.

The tranny(s) part number also helps in knowing the production year changes

If I was interested in actually rebuilding it and using it obviously I would have gotten a manual. I'm taking it apart and cleaning it so I dont have to buy a case when I have a transmission built, simple enough.

The main thing is there are a lot of internal parts that are reused in a trans build. A $1500 trans build can get up to $3000 and more if you have to replace everything inside. The case is the cheapest part in the build.

I get it

you have a complete tranz you are gonna have rebuilt

you want to drop off the clean/empty case with it at the rebuilder in case it needs a case

ez enuff

bang it on the floor with pump bolts out,VB removed, snap ring and tail shaft removed

it will all fall out more or less
