JW "wheel". I recently bought a new one and discovered that with the engine bolted up to the block the converter would only move about an inch or so. After much cursing and backing the trans back I finally realized that the tabs on the converter were hitting the welds which hold the ring gear to the flexplate. On my previous unit I could turn the converter easily to line up the bolt holes. With the tabs hitting I had to line the converter up prior to bolting everything together.

We use the B&M 8-bolt flexplate. It is round instead of diamond shaped.

I USE THE MOPAR PERFORMANCE ONE.for some reason i like the way it lines up and no issues with it. i recommend it.
i use the ARP converter bolts. they are 12 point and its nice getting the whole wrench on the bolt and torque away.
i use the mopar performance flex plate to crank bolts.nice and heavy duty.

Poppa J,
I only see one listed at Summit ( see link ),
this is a 8 bolt they mention...

Internal engine balance,,,( which i assume is what i need ),,, new motor,,,etc....

Can you look at the link,,,does this look like what i need ?

ps,,they also mention the bolt kits ,,, 1/2 ",,,from MP,,,$ 59,,,YIKES,,,,,

does this look correct ?

thanks,
Doug

Chris ,,,any info on the MP plate,,,and ARP bolt kit?

Doug,
That is the correct one. It is nessesary to buy new 7/16" crank bolts which are the hemi 8 bolt crank bolts. I have two or three MP performance 8 bolt SFI plates, we don't run them anymore so if you want to try on of those PM me your address and I will give you one. poppaj

poppaj, ill take one of the 8 bolt flexplates, since you still owe me for the msd crank trigger hardware, this would be a good tradeoff since the msd hardware cost me $100.00

Make that three of us, and I know there's more....
There was a run of B&M 8 bolt flexplates that had one of the converter bolt holes out by about 1/16" and one other hole out by just a hair.... you have to get one of these flexplates to believe it, but make sure you try the bolts through the holes and into the convertor before tossing your drivetrain in or together.... it will save you grief.

I have a mopar eight bolt flex plate with the mopar crank and convertor bolt package. I figure if superstock racer can't break one, I shouldn't have any problems with a street motor.

I use the Mopar Performance flexplate also. Been in for 3 years. I used the B&M flexplates before this. I had 4 or 5 of them crack around the flexplate holes, in 2 years. The holes are very close to the edge on the B&M flexplates. There is more metal around the flexplate holes on the mopar performance flex plates.

Can someone provide the PNs for the MP 8-bolt flex plate and the ARP bolts that would be required for both the crank and converter?

Looks nice, but my first thought was "Why would you want to make a part like a flex plate out of aluminum?" Steel still seems like a better choice to me for that application.

When I called Reactor, 2 years ago, they weren't making the 8 bolt flexplates anymore?? Maybe they started again??
