Dont know if you saw the video of my car but its neither light (3400 lbs) nor is it a dragster or bracket car. Its a tagged pump gas street car that I drive regularly and also run heads up events in. This video is from a heads up DOT tire class. I ran a 5.80 @ 116 mph with a 1.33 60' on M/T drag radials. You can also see I put the front tires down past the 60' timer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGDCiuK2M1s

yes which probably only comprises about 99% of the competition laps made down dragstrips in this country. i'm not saying the glide is the best choice for everyone, or the fastest because it flat isn't. it is however pound for pound and dollar for dollar the lightest, least HP robbing, strongest and most consistent transmission available and that cannot be disputed. i could care less who makes it and i don't run a glide to be like everyone else. if i wanted to be like everyone else i wouldn't have a kings ransom invested in chrysler products.
like i said initially it depends on what your goal is. if you look back over this thread it would seem that most people who are using or have used them are pleased.
and the TH-400 in that Sunkist you're drivin ain't no ma mopar piece either ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tonguue.gif)

Man that thing leaves hard .I heard that a Powerglide car was suppose to be soft off the line ,but i see that isnt always the case .Outstanding fast car for drag radials ...

I agree with you but my car isn't built for bracket racing and i only run the 8.50 index for a test and tune session on a prepped track.
The only true mopar part in my car is the body! Oh and the turbo 400 doesn't have any gm parts left in it either! LOL

I've run both a Torqueflyte and a glide in my FED. The 2.42 low gear of the Torqueflyte was VERY violent, making the digger fun to drive, but a little scary at times when it decided to take a left or right hook with the front end in the air. The Glide with it's 1.96 low gear calmed the launch down a bunch, and actually make the 60' more consistant.

Ok it's on!
Maybe if you did take ur hood off ,you could of found the power to get around me. We all know I took my hood off for plug readings only. I don't have anything to tell me what's going on inside the chamber.I tow back to get accurate readings. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/argue.gif)

If I were trying to go fast I would still have the 904 in there. 3 speed will almost assuredly outperform a two speed, assuming the car hooks, which is a big assumption. The glide is not the answer for MOST cars that want to go fast. There is a reason the pro stockers have 5 gears. Because their setup warrants keeping that thing WAY up in the rpms and the 5 speed can do that. BTW the guy that started this thread asked for info from guys that are running glides in their Mopars. This thread suffers from scope creep
I can only speak from my own experiences. My particular car has run quicker and has more mph with the glide than with my 904 or 727. I have a buddy with a turbo Duster (.030 340) that went from a 904 to a glide and picked up a couple tenths and several mph. I also have a friend that went from a c4 in his mustang to a glide and picked up ET and mph so there are lots of cases of cars actually going faster and not just more consistent. I dont have one in my car for consistency, Its still in there because its faster and more durable than my 904 was. The right converter is crucial in a glide. I went from a 4800 stall to a 5200 and went from 7.0's @ 99 to 6.50's @ 104 so its very possible that people that have tried glides just didn't have the right converter and thats why they weren't as fast as their previous tranny. That may not always be the case but I havn't seen a case yet myself where a glide wasn't quicker when set up correctly. At least not on a car that makes good power.

Hmmmmmm you sure you want to open this can?
Lets see, i brought my STREET car to this race. you know 2 seats, radio, no tow vehicle....
We had pizza while you were all up in your computer and tune-up looking for the power to get around me.
King of the grudge is coming up on may 27th. I'm entered are you?
I don't have any 2.10 first gear boxes laying around sorry.

This is very interesting indeed.Your car actually picked up a 1/2 second in the 1/8 and 5 mph with just that much more convertor stall?I wish i knew which stall was ideal for my combo with the my Glide .How did you know which way to go with the convertor and how many did you go through before you found the magic stall ???
