Not me, i run a turbo 400 with a 2:10 first gear on my TT5 supercharged dart.  It all depends on your combo, 1/4 or 1/8 and your goals whether or not the glide is the right choice.

Hmmm maybe i am doing it all wrong and should put a glide in 
It seems the strongest aftermarket gear set is a 1.80 for the glide.
Now if all your worried about is bracket racing go get that glide but if you are looking to go fast in the 1/4 more gears always seems to win out. Keeping the engine in its happy spot will do more for a low ET than a big RPM drop.
My car?
As for getting off the starting line and getting down the track there are many ways to do that. BUT the biggest problem that everybody seems to miss is the rpm drop between the gear changes with a blower car. the less drop the boost stays...
Like i said it all depends on your combo and goals.

Count us in too. I bought a JW trans from racingjunk, should be good for 1800hp, got it for 2700$ and it was unused. 1.80 gear ratio first, and PTC 10" steel stator converter. 3470 lbs, DOT tires; 1.26 60 ft and 7.89/175 mph on pump gas. There is still room for improvement in the launch, need more experience. No rpoblem with the RPM drop, We leave at 4000 rpm, the stall is about 6200 on the current boost and we shift at 7100; after the shift the rpm drops to 6200 and we cross the line against the limiter at 7500.

If i'm not mistaken you have a turbo car. I said blower.
Actually a turbo car loves the glide because it keeps the turbos loaded.
like i said, depends on the combo and goal.

69 Road runner ladder bar susp. and stturts in front weight is 2900. The engine is a low deck 499ci with indy 440-1 flowing 358 at 700. Cam is rather small 269int and 273ex with a 696 lift. Tires are 32X14.5 with 4.56 gears. Coan powerglide and 8inch converter to the specs of engine. Engine made 765 at 6300 and 695tq at 4900. Car has been 1.29 in the 60ft and 9.28 at 143.7 at 3700ft. I AM VERY HAPPY WITH MY GLIDE

Glides are the greatest thing sense sliced bread. The #1 tranny in the world Yata Yata Yata.
Will sell either one of mine or both and they have some great parts inside. Both use stock GM case with JW bell and tail housing all aftermarket internals.
Career best 8.02 @ 169 at 3050# and 10" tires small block power.

Its proly more consistant with the Glide than the 727.Only have one shift to hit at the right rpm , instead of two ...
