I'd have one bolted into my 10.30, 3185 lb S/P Dart, tomorrow, if I wasn't poorer than a church mouse. Best bracket/headsup idea since sliced bread.. and I wear pentastar grunders.

Not me, i run a turbo 400 with a 2:10 first gear on my TT5 supercharged dart.

It all depends on your combo, 1/4 or 1/8 and your goals whether or not the glide is the right choice.

I would think the brutal low end torque, of a crank driven blower, would play directly into the hands of a glide. I'm too tired to check, what is the starting line ratio of a typical glide, versus the 2.10 ratio that you are using?

Hmmm maybe i am doing it all wrong and should put a glide in

It seems the strongest aftermarket gear set is a 1.80 for the glide.

Now if all your worried about is bracket racing go get that glide but if you are looking to go fast in the 1/4 more gears always seems to win out. Keeping the engine in its happy spot will do more for a low ET than a big RPM drop.

My car?
As for getting off the starting line and getting down the track there are many ways to do that. BUT the biggest problem that everybody seems to miss is the rpm drop between the gear changes with a blower car. the less drop the boost stays...

Like i said it all depends on your combo and goals.

Count us in too. I bought a JW trans from racingjunk, should be good for 1800hp, got it for 2700$ and it was unused. 1.80 gear ratio first, and PTC 10" steel stator converter. 3470 lbs, DOT tires; 1.26 60 ft and 7.89/175 mph on pump gas. There is still room for improvement in the launch, need more experience. No rpoblem with the RPM drop, We leave at 4000 rpm, the stall is about 6200 on the current boost and we shift at 7100; after the shift the rpm drops to 6200 and we cross the line against the limiter at 7500.

If i'm not mistaken you have a turbo car. I said blower.
Actually a turbo car loves the glide because it keeps the turbos loaded.

like i said, depends on the combo and goal.

one thing about the glide is you have to make sure is has the right converter, they're very sensitive to converter selection.

Glides are the greatest thing sense sliced bread. The #1 tranny in the world Yata Yata Yata.

Will sell either one of mine or both and they have some great parts inside. Both use stock GM case with JW bell and tail housing all aftermarket internals.

Career best 8.02 @ 169 at 3050# and 10" tires small block power.

Put one in mine at the end of last year and I love it. 3000lbs 416 small block. Fastest the car had been in the 1/8th was 6.22 with the setup at the time and I went 6.26 with the glide in it. I will say it honestly lost .04 in 60 ft and .06 total.

Just wondering, but if the car slowed down, why do you love it so much?

Its proly more consistant with the Glide than the 727.Only have one shift to hit at the right rpm , instead of two ...

which is the main reason for the switch, fastest doesn't always put on the win light.saftey is also on some of those minds.

it all depends on what your goal is. i've said it before there's a reason the powerglide is the most popular racing transmission.

Reason number one is most cars race chevt motors and it is the toughest chevy trans.

Reason number 2 is Because every one can brag about runing 4.88 gears with them when it would take off too fast with a 2.45 1st gear 727.

Reason number 3 is it is admitedly a simple trans, takes more brains to re-build a 727 but a PG is so easy a caveman could do it.

I have never heard of any one going faster useing a PG that a 727 with the correct gear ratio. If you hear of someone that went faster it was because they had the wrong gear and or converter in the 727 plain and simple.

You can run more consistant with a PG because you have one less shift to hit at the right time (who says you have to hit 3rd in a 727?) but you will either leave some TQ on the table at the starting line or spin un nessacary RPM at the finish line.

I am not causing global warming, I am just trying to hold off a impending Ice Age!

yes you're right, we're all idiots what was i thinking...
torqueflite is the best transmission ever made, after all it's a chrysler product. why would anyone want a inexpensive, strong, lightweight, consistent transmission when they can have a torqueflite instead.

seems a lot of mopar racers (not test and tuners) are taking a liking to the glide

what kind of tool brags about axle ratio?

so complexity makes a transmission better?

906 heads, 727s and danas for everyone...no wonder we're left behind
