Yep, Viper color. I don't think it would get near as much attention if it was a different color.

I used spool mounts on the motor with custom mounts on the frame.

There is no replaceable K member on a Dakota. They are a one piece frame like the full sized trucks.
In a hot rod, the V8 in place of the V6 is not an issue, in the real truck, the 87 engine compartment was smaller the the 88 & newer and firewall and radiator clearance may become an issue.

I would like to think its the same K frame,but i do not know for sure,,but the 1987 3.6 v6 is a 318 minus 2 cylinders,i would think they share the same block motor mount ears,,,either way its not hard to fab a bracket to use the spoool mounts,,also you can check a guy callled schumaker he makes all sorta of adapter and better then original mopar motor mounts

If my frame wouldn't of been hacked in the first place I would of just put a mustang II on it. There is a 200 hours in just getting the frame to work.

My 48 Plymouth has a throttle body EFI, 3.9 V6, from a 1990 Dakota, mine has the 5 speed and 3:55 gears. (It actually has the full Dakota frame under it.) The car is fun to drive, it feels fast, even though it really isn't. I can get a chirp from the 235 x 75 x 15 radials through a good tight limited slip rear axle in 3rd gear! I get 17 mpg beating the crap out of it, and it will get over 20 on the highway if I can keep it around 70. When I blow this 3.9 up, there is another one waiting. Nothing wrong with the 3.9, they are tough, have decent power range, a will pull decent mileage. The only issue I see is there is little aftermarket support, as far as performance parts available. I am considering a turbocharger for the next 3.9, time will tell. Gene

I had one of those v6 dakota 1987 3.9 v 6 5 speed 2 bbl was a good motor,,,if you look around you may find a mopar performance 4 bbl intake,,, i dont know if any after market intakes were made for that motor,,,its a 318 minus 2 front cylinders
