The show was good, I think racer turn out was down due to the NHRA race in Tucson and the SECDA race at Fontana all on the same weekend.
I got to talk with Al Agular for a few minutes and I saw Ted's red duster, but never caught up with him.
Swap meet was smaller than last year, but the car show was full.

I was there pitted with Ted and Don (Diego and Jeepmon). I left saturday night as ususal, but saw Ted went out in the first round pro sunday, Don made it to the 3rd round in pro. Ron Silva (dragrcr97) was pitted not far from us and also went out in pro 3rd round.
I ran a new best for me at Vegas on Sat morning with a 10.03 at 132, 1.40 60ft into a fairly stiff headwind. MPH was down 1 from the 133 it went on friday.
All in all had another great time at MATS.
Glen, that was a great run you made into a stiff head wind. I think you were running a buddy of mines yellow Dart on that pass and he ran a 10.02. He said that was an excellent run and you guys were side by side all the way. The track photographer had a good shot of you and him on the line on that run. Good to get to see you again and glad you made it home safe. Dave

Yeah.. Willie was there as usual telling his great stories.. He usually comes to our Van Nuys cruise nites, always the same ole Wille.. Swap meet was large, car show had many cars and good ole straight up Mopar drag racing. Saturday nite @ the Cannery was rockin, tons of cars and WCRS played for 2 1/2 hours.. Just my $0.01..

Man no kidding! That guy can sure talk! I walked up to him at 5:00 on Saturday trying to buy his CD's, there was one guy there getting a CD autographed. He would write one letter, then stop writing to tell a story, then continue on. It took him 45 minutes to sign ONE CD! No joke!

The stiff head wind on Saturday caused some real problems. Bob Mazzolini put his Cuda on the back bumper on his morning run. Seems the wind got under the car and lifted it way up.

Dave, that was a good race. I found that at vegas anyway, the car likes to rev higher. On that run, I hit the rev limiter (which was set at 7200) just as I made the 1-2 shift. I had planned to shift at 6800 and set the shift lite to that, but it didn't come on until 7000.
My first run on Friday I shifted at 6400, and went 10.17 @ 132.14 with 1.44 60'. Second run set light at 6700 and went 10.06 at 133.43 with 1.42 60'.
Second run on Friday I did shift it at the planned 6800 and it went 10.04 at 132 again so I think the 6900 to 7000 range may be the best on the current tune. At least at Vegas anyway.
I had fun and it was very good to see you again.... Glenn

Not to worry, Al, your car looked sharp. My observations, for what they're worth: Too dang windy, flags were straight, they ran 1/8 mile briefly. No Hemi Under Glass wheelstand. Swap meet seemed to have some good stuff, but some Barrett-Jackson prices. Turnout generally seemed down by 30% or so. That's all the snivelling I can muster, though. The A-cars (SS/AH) were awesome, a couple of beautifully done cars that I hadn't previously seen close-up showed. Their ETs were all over the place, but those are still the Kings of SS. Herb McCandless & Arlen Vanke were funny as hell; also had nice conversations with Buddy Martin, Diane Sox and Tom Coddington. A lot of very very nice cars in the show. The Midway was pretty good, and I managed to part with some money here & there.

Saw Al go out 2nd round in quick 16. Saw Moparmanjames go out 2nd round(?) in his crossfire in Street. Saw Aarcuda (tony) get pushed out of the box in 2nd round in Super Pro. That web site with the race results was quite nice! OH YEAH!! I saw Wyoming advance to 2nd round in Nostalgia SS. hows your handwriting Glen? Every year your last name is different. Didn't see Teds name in any results??.
I went red in the 1st round, but it was tons of fun and I bought some cool alky stuff for the Duster.

I was only there Saturday and I had a blast. I actually got to watch alot of racing. I saw Dragrcr97s (Ron) valiant make 5 passes and watched him autocross the car twice . All in all, I had fun. The HEMI shootout was awesome and I watched Bob Mazzolinis SS 68 Cuda do a HUGE wheely that scared the pooh out of him causing a little damage from lifting on the throttle. Definitely a slower show than last couple of years, but still great. Maybe one day I will get to race something.

Sure hated to miss it this year. We had to choose between SCEDA in LA, MATS(our sentimental favorite), and West Coast Hot Rod at Bakersfield. We chose WCHRA since it's at home and we've just bought a house so a little savings in diesel was a good thing.
Apparently, we made the right decision because we were able to represent the Mopar faithful by winning the event in the electronics class. In a short field, we used a couple .00x lights and dead on my 10.53 dial to take home a tiny check and a huge trophy. Great weekend, beautiful weather, but we sure missed being there with y'all!!!!

The show was great. We put on our autocross and everyone had a great time! Here's a video from the event.

Taking a fast lap around the Autocross course in the Hotchkis Challenger with 11 time National SCCA Solo Champion Mary Pozzi at the wheel was the highlight of the weekend for me.
Thanks to Hotchkis for the opportunity to have my first laps around an Autocross course. Riding with a champion of Mary's talent is a fantastic introduction to the AutoX hobby.
Please come to MATS next year too!!!

I had a good time, but heck if you can't have a good time in Vegas in late march when you live in cold Wyoming, then you aren't trying, turnout out was low it seemed to me, we had a little issue in N/SS that I'd say Phil Painter handled excellently, he went way out of his way to make things right with everyone. Guess the only glitch was I saw where J Body refered to my last name being butchered again, for some reason that happens every year, have begun to wonder if someone is playing a trick on me, my last name is Willett, not a super common name but pretty simple name, over the years in Vegas, I've been called,,,,,,Wilbert, Willard,,, Wilket,,,, and I think Wilker,,,,, not sure whatthey were calling me this year, guess jay will have to let me know,,,,,, I also found out Friday night that Larry Gilley has more best friends than anybody else in the world, Larry's allway a friendly guy, but when he's lubed up a little,,,,, yep

This was the best year yet for me and my Gang. After changing everything in the car but the steering wheel and using the strip for the test & tune. We unloaded thursday knight Teched the car and got in on the $20 a run practice. Ran horrible two runs and my buddies tuned her back where it was suppose to run. best was a 10.69 @ 128. went to round 5 in the eliminations, Dialed a 10.79 against Dave owens in the champagne colored 66 coronet his was a 10.99 and I ran a 10.73 Frustrating but the time of my life! Awesome weekend and i'll be back! Dave if your out there Great Race! dialed a 10.99 and ran an 11.0 Made me run it out the back door! Mike Owen
